^ Basically, those are two of the most important virtues to a long distance relationship, whether you have met the person or not.

Set goals. Work towards things. Always feel like it's going somewhere and won't be long distance forever.

Phew. You make it work by keepimg the long distance part as short as possible.
Thing is people change over time and thats ok. A succesful couple will grow together. But long distance, after the courtship phase..you inevitably begin to grow apart. Unfortunate truth.
