To put everything in to context first;
I recently graduated from high school. Our graduating class had a lock in that night. Inflatables, gambling, laser tag, music, ect.
I am not single. I haven't been single in a little over a year.
Early on in my relationship, a second girl who I was friends with, showed interest in me. She wanted me to go to prom with her. As I knew that she would take my saying yes as a sign of interest in her and as I said, I was already in a relationship, so I said no.
So time had passed and I ended up going to prom anyways with a few friends. So did she. We danced a bit, but I made sure to keep it simply as friends. I had no interest in her but I didn't want to seem rude and just completely ignore her.
So at our lock in event, we were allowed to bring guests who are not members of the graduating class. I bring my buddy who's a year younger then us, and she ends up bringing her new boyfriend.
Mind you, this relationship couldn't have been more than a few months seeing as how he wasn't there for prom which was only 2 months before the lock in.
The kid is two years younger than her as well. And (no offense to any sophomores out there), he obviously has no control over his hormones, respect for himself, and he especially doesn't have any respect for her.
When he's around, you can see her look of embarrassment. He's either hanging all over her and acting inappropriate, or yelling and being ignorant like he's still in middle school.
We had to sit next to each other during an auction during the lock in. The girl sitting in front of him, my friend sitting in front of me. This entire time, he was running his hands all over her. Running his hands up and down her sides, playing with her bra strap through her shirt, f---ing slipping his hands under her shirt to touch under-boob. Mind you, we're shoulder to shoulder in the middle of a freaking crowd of people, and he's feeling all over her like they've got their own private room.
Later as the night progresses, he does even more to prove his immaturity. Her and I could be mid conversation, and he'll walk over and kiss her like they're making out. It wouldn't matter if she was mid sentence, he would have to force himself in the middle and prove to everyone else that she was his.
Needless to say, the kid was scum. Immature, disrespectful scum.
Which led me to my dilemma. She was a friend, so I couldn't just sit there and let him treat her that way. I couldn't tell him to piss off without a better cause than just being a creep. And I couldn't get her away from him without risking her thinking I had interest in her.
So I did what any self respecting guy would do. I got as many people together as I could, and I conspired against him.
I personally led the cock-blocking team. We hung around them closely and called him out any time he tried to make an advance. We purposely drew attention to him to make him self conscious and embarrassed of the way he was acting. We also had a second team that I was not a part of to get her away from him whenever he had his back turned.
All in all, it's a plethora of mixed feelings over the whole ordeal. Maybe we did the wrong thing. Maybe it was wrong to keep him away from her. Maybe it was wrong to take such a round about way of doing it all. Sometimes I sit back on it all and wonder if it wasn't in part my fault. Maybe all she needed was to know that there were people out there for her. That she didn't need to lower her standards to that troll. I couldn't volunteer for it, but that doesn't mean I couldn't boost her confidence other ways.
And maybe I'm just reading too far in to it.
In the end, there are only three things I'm certain about.
-The kid WAS scum.
-She WAS embarrassed by the way he was acting.
-I don't regret any of my actions.
I don't know why I wanted to share this with you guys. Maybe to help me feel like I did the right thing. Or maybe to help me realize I did the wrong thing. I don't know. Take it how you will. -
