this was an old assignment for advanced art but yeah
just need advice on how to improve painting skills

I would say you can work on enhancing the colors being used. When it has to do with skin color; there is more than just the "first glance" pigmentation of an individuals skin. You can watch videos on colors that go with skin other than darker shades of the base. If you just use a darker shade of the base color, then the painting can seem a bit lifeless. However, by adding different textures and colors that compliment the base; your art will be really eye catching.
At least that's my opinion, I hope it was helpful. Overall, I really love the design of the character. -

it's beautiful, imo. I'm terrible at painting so I don't have much room to talk, but I think lighter shades around the cheeks and nose can make it slightly more attractive. you have such a pretty, unique style. I like the slightly exaggerated lines. I feel like this type of look you're giving your characters really defines and makes you stand out as an artist
