  Advice: Try depending less on the thick lines you outline with though. :o If your picture has more shading instead of the thick lines, it will make a really good difference. So a bit less line dependency.

  The size of your lines and shading depend on the type of style you're going for, especially when you're planning to do realism or surrealism. Thick lines put more emphasis on the shape and form of the object you're trying to produce and gives more attention to the "inside" details.
