.. Actually, I don't think you guys know what that means. Cinco de Mayo- Fifth of May. In Mexico, Guerra of Puebla or something like that, sorry haven't celebrated that in a few years. Usually we don't celebrate it here in the USA because this place is an ass.
For you people, it's Mexico's independence against France after them five years of being controlled, and in Durango we do the best parties for that. Usually in school, we'd do an entire reenactment with one group as the French, another as Mexicans. (Usually I was the narrator, as a little girl I never liked reenacting wars like this because I thought it was rude to the French that lived in the area. xD) Then we'd make tamales and such, oh I miss life back then..
So anyway, there's some background.
A friend of mine says her family talks about their grandparents and how they fought in the war, I don't actually think my grandparents had much to do in that war, but I don't know really. Haven't asked.
So you know what that means for Fern. :D Guilt trip!
(Okay, probably not. Asked him about this and all he says is "No, I'm not celebrating", which is a load of crap because usually he does, but now since the whole thing about who knows what, he's turned into a sissy.
And I told him to do it or I wouldn't let him drink, and he says "I'm not drinking on that day either, I'm treating it like a normal day because I don't want to offend anyone."
That's a load of crap too, because his birthday is pretty offensive to Spain but he celebrates it either way.
Oh well, celebrate it within the others.) -
We celebrated Cinco de Mayo in a couple schools I've been in. :D It's an awesome holiday.
Same thing when 4th of July comes up, but Alfie's always excited to celebrate it. xD Though when England gets all depressed he get him drunk and makes his night...not depressed. xD -
Isn't it? :D It was always one of my favorite holidays. After Mexico's actual independence day of course.
Exact opposite of Fern over there, we have to teach that man how to lighten up. xD
