    The herding group is known worldwide for its intelligence. As their name suggests, these breeds were bred for herding. (However some included breeds are only descended from herding dogs.) These dogs are quick thinkers and extremely aware of their surroundings. As family pets herding dogs make great companions, but need much exercise and a job to do. A vast amount of breeds are including in the herding group, so I will only be mentioning the more popular ones. These include the border collie, Australian cattle dog, Australian Shepard, bearded collie, German Shepard, old English sheepdog, Rottweiler, Samoyed, Schipperke, Shetland sheepdog, Tibetan terrier, and the welsh corgi.

    So accurate! U have a border collie mix and she is the BEST DOG EVER! She's my BFF and extremely intelligent and fun-loving.
