Warriors Love Story[She-cats only!] Part Two

This is part two! I’m adding a character in this part. Look out for part three! You need to choose who is your mate—or whether you even have a mate. After all, this is your story!

The descriptions are in part one, so I’m not going to write them again. Last time was a bit too not-detailed, so I’m adding extra details. Okay, ready, set, go!

  1. Well. Last time I left you as a newly named warrior, right?
  2. “I will choose the cats who are going to the Gathering now,”Smokestar yowled. “Me, Slyhiss, Softbreeze, Lightdrizzle, Scorchwhisper, Shiverwind, Shadefire, Leafshadow, and Silverthorn. Oh, and the medicine cats, Silentecho and Nightbreeze.” You swell with pride. Your first Gathering as a warrior!
  3. No matter what you chose, Lightdrizzle soon fell in with you. “Hey, Shiverwind.” He looks at you in an embarrassed way. “Um, well, you see, uh, like,”he breaks off. “What?” “I’ve always liked you since you were a kit. Like, as more than a friend.” He looks at you nervously. “So, what about you?” “I’m sorry Lightdrizzle, I’ve never thought about it, I don’t know,”you meow, and trailed off.
  4. Everything was going well at the Gathering. You hide a smile as the cats from IceClan, FlameClan, and EarthClan cheer for you and your former denmates. “Shiverwind! Scorchwhisper! Nightbreeze! Lightdrizzle!” Fernstar of FlameClan stepped forward and silenced the yowling cats with her tail. “I also have something to announce,”she meowed,“Dustypaw is now….” Then she trailed off, ears pricked. Berrystar gasped. A low, ferocious snarling rippled through the silence. Several lean, bony foxes slid out of a opening in the bushes. Their eyes gleamed with cold, battle hungry light. Scars were hidden by their tangled orange fur. The foxes swapped glances, and leapt. You saw a large reddish fox with huge black paws battling Smokestar and Berrystar. Panic shrilled through you. This was Smokestar’s last life! Without hesitation, you bounded over springy grass, and as you neared, leapt. You landed squarely on the fox and spitting, you raked you claws through it’s ears and sliced your fangs along it’s flank. The fox yelped and twisted around, snapping it’s great jaws around your hind leg. Agony shot through you, and all you hear is a sickening SNAP as you sink into darkness. Then nothing.
  5. *Two days later* You wake up, feeling dizzy. “Oh you’re awake!” You see Scorchwhisper at the edge of your den. “I was so worried,”he confesses. Then he licked your ears, because apparently when you were unconscious, a fox tore both ears open. Nightbreeze trotted over, eyes dull with exhaustion, but they lit up when he saw you. He hurried towards you and pressed against your side, giving his littermate a glare. “I’m afraid you broke your leg. You wouldn’t wake up, even when we dragged you back,”he murmured softly. Then Lightdrizzle stalked in, and he rushed to your side, pressing his nose into your neck fur. “Finally! Did you not listen to Silentecho? She was unconscious for TWO DAYS!”he snapped at Nightbreeze.
  6. After a few days, you are lying in your nest, feeling much better. Then you hear something. You prick your ears and make out the sound of Scorchwhisper and Glowshade, the attractive she cat that you didn’t like much. “She’s CRIPPLED. The only thing she’ll be able to do is to limp around. Did you see her hind paw? It’ll never heal.” You glance at your hind paw, wincing as you once again saw the torn flesh and the bloody mess it was. “I don’t care,”Scorchwhisper snapped,“I care about her because she’s fun, gentle, and she treats everyone nicely. At least she stood strong through the crippling blows.” He glanced at Glowshade and added,“Yes, you’ll tell Slystar that I refused to be your mate, how terrifying! She’ll force me to become your mate, what a nightmare,”and with these words, he was gone. Wait, what? SlySTAR? Smokestar still died? “Let all cats old enough to swim and hunt gather beneath Highbranch.” You hear the yowl of Slyhiss. No, Slystar. You limp outside painfully. “I say these words before StarClan, and may they approve of my choice. Shiverwind will be the new deputy of IceClan.” “But she’s crippled!”Glowshade looked at her in disbelief. “She was ready to defend Smokestar with her life,”Slystar growled. Nightbreeze smiles and the others cheer. “Shiverwind! Shiverwind!”
  7. You go out for a walk, Lightdrizzle at your side. He had insisted on coming because “something might go wrong! What if you’re in danger? Look at your paw!” so you agreed. You try to work out new strategies for hunting and fighting. “Maybe I CAN fight with three paws,”you murmur. Suddenly, a strong reek in the air hits you. You sniff the air. “Fox! And the stale scent of Smokestar!”you gasp to Lightdrizzle. “Looks like we found the fox who hurt you. Or at least, it’s nest,”he growled. But then, something hits you, and you feel pain in your neck. It’s the fox! You turn over, slicing your hind claws over its soft underbelly, but pain shot through your not yet healed hind paw. “I’m coming!” You heard the snarl of Lightdrizzle, and suddenly the fox got up, snapping at hissing. Lightdrizzle was raking its nose with a flurry of blows. “Shiverwind! Call a patrol! I’ll fight the fox!” All you hear is a yowl as you half limp, half sprint to your camp. As you burst in, you try to look calm. “Softbreeze, Silverthorn, Scorchwhisper, Honeyfrost, you come with me. Quickly. There’s a fox!” When you get there, the patrol managed to make the fox flee, but Lightdrizzle was heavily injured. As you carry him back, you heard him whisper,“StarClan is coming for me, but I’ll always love you, Shiverwind.” And with that, his last breath left him. When everyone knew, he was buried, and you sat vigil for him.
  8. “Shiverwind! Leafshadow is giving birth!” Nightbreeze burst into the warriors den. “I need you to help soothe her.” You agreed, and soon you were in the nursery. Leafshadow was panting hard, pain in her gaze. She let out a cry of pain and her belly heaved. “It’s okay,”you breath in her ear. She let out another wail. A shudder ran through her. “The first kit is coming!” Nightbreeze stroked her belly, and Leafshadow pushed. Soon, two healthy kits were suckling at her belly. “What will you name them?”you asked. “The black tom is Shadekit, and the mottled gray she kit is Stormkit.” You look at her. “Are you sure you want to name him after Shadefire?” You had only recently heard that your former mentor died. Leafshadow nodded. You sigh, and think…

  10. You limp outside. Silentecho, to your horror, has confirmed that you leg will be permanently damaged. You sigh deeply and sit down. Suddenly, you hear a rustling in the bushes. You sniff the air. It’s the cat you scented near the fox den! Only you noticed, not Lightdrizzle, though. A graceful tom stalked out. He had snowy white fur that was thick and soft, and blazing amber eyes. He dipped his head respectfully. “Hi. I’m looking for a Clan to join.” “Looks like you found the right cat,”you responded,“I’m Shiverwind, the deputy of IceClan.” “I’m Snow. Your name is as pretty as you are,”he added shyly. You whisk your tail, and you two head to camp. “Slystar will probably accept you,”you mewed,“can you hunt and fight?” “I’ve been on my own for most my life. I learned these skills by myself. And now maybe I’ll finally belong, thanks to you,”he purred. You twitch an ear. When you get there, you explain everything to Slystar, who agreed. “Let all cats old enough to swim and hunt gather beneath Highbranch!” You shifted your paws. “Can you swim?” “Of course!” Snow responded. “Snow, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and defend it with your life?” “Yes, I do.” “Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your name. From this moment, you shall be known as Snowfire, and we welcome you as a full warrior of IceClan.” You feel Snowfire lay his thick white tail on your back. “Thanks,”he whispered, his breath stirring your ear.
  11. After a moon or so, Snowfire comes to you, looking nervous. But before he can speak, you hear a sound. You turn and see…Glowshade and Scorchwhisper! They’re walking side by side, and purring loudly. Disappointment weighed in your chest like a stone, but you press it back. You’re the deputy, after all. “What’s up?” You turn to Snowfire. “Remember when I told you your name is as pretty as you are?”he asks softly. You nod. “Well, I really like you, as more than just a friend. You’re one of the only cats I trust, and I feel an urge to be with you.” He looked down at his paws. “I understand if you don’t, I just…need an answer.” You respond with,“I never knew, Snowfire. I, um, I need to think.”
  12. As you organize patrols the next day, you hear Scorchwhisper and Glowshade…AGAIN. You ignore them. “Softbreeze, Silverthorn, Snowfire, and Scorchwhisper, come with me. The others, stay.” As soon as you are out, you confront Scorchwhisper. “I thought you cared! I heard what you told Glowshade last time. You mocked her! What happened now?” A look of guilt crept across his face. “I just…you know, deputies can’t take mates, but I wanted kits, so I apologized to Glowshade.” “We CAN! Remember the new codes? ‘All cats may take a mate, including leader, deputy, and medicine cat.’ I thought you knew!” “I’ll think about it,”Scorchwhisper agreed quietly.
