  1. What the heck was that supposed to mean? What's going to happen soon? Is a masked murderer going to show up at my door and slit my throat? I was puzzling over what possibly would happen soon when Miranda trudged in. "You're still up?" she asked with a yawn, "I figured after today, you would be sleeping pretty much as soon as possible." "No, I'm just weird like that. On days that I would be expected to be sleeping right away I'm up all night, and vice versa." I said. "Well, you may be like that, but I'm going to bed." Miranda said, getting changed into her pajamas. Miranda turned off her lamp and buried herself under the blankets. I was still lost in thought. I decided that I would think some more after school, which started the next day. That was going to be a nightmare. I sighed and stripped down my clothes and replaced them with some flannel blue pajama pants and a black t-shirt. Luckily, Miranda just went ahead and fed Twix for me this morning, I had entirely forgotten when I was with Vincent. I let Twix out if her cat carrier. Miranda must have put her in there before she left for lunch. I patted my bed and Twix jumped onto it. I hugged my wonderful cat, she was always there for me, she never judged me, and best of all, she was great for hugging. "Twix, what is going on?" I whispered. I laid down in my bed and stared at the ceiling. My head really hurt. Since the only way I could end the pain was by falling asleep, I turned off my lamp and drifted into dream world.
  2. I had a weird dream. But since that happens a lot with me, in the future we can just assume it will be a weird dream. I dreamed I was in a gray sea, barely staying afloat. Multiple people in a boat helped me get out of the water. And they looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't tell who they were because they were covered in light. The scene changed and I was walking through a tunnel. "Soon," said a feminine voice, "Soon it will be your time." Then the voice laughed. I started running through the tunnel hoping there would be an end I could get to, but it seemed to go on forever. I heard screams, one of which sounded like it belonged to me, but I wasn't opening my mouth. "_______," a woman said, "Keep going!" There was a light that looked like it was a firefly, except for bigger, and it swirled around me. The light led me through the tunnel until finally there was an end, and I was blinded by light. I'm not sure if this was part of the dream because I was only semi-conscious, but I could've sworn I heard a voice in my ear saying, "You're safe, for now." I shot up in bed and looked around. No one besides Miranda who was sleeping soundly. I was probably just overreacting. I laid back down and checked my phone for the time. It was six thirty. Well, I needed to take a shower anyway. Breakfast started at eight and went till nine, then I had Italian in Room A54, and so on. That gave me an hour and a half to take a shower, feed Twix, dress, and do my hair. I usually don't do my makeup, I feel like it isn't really needed for everyday life. I hopped in the shower, washing my hair, body, and trying to get my mind off the weird dream I had.
  3. I had a weird dream the other night too, the night before too, but I was overreacting. I've had weirder dreams, as odd as it sounds. One time, I had a dream I was battling Maleficent with a giant key. And another time, I had a dream that there was horse in my sink that grew into a T-Rex. So yeah, my mind is pretty messed up. I dried off and got changed into a pair of black skinny jeans and a candy corn sweater. Just to be in the spirit of Halloween, you know? It was only the 15th, but still, it was barely more than two weeks away! It seemed that Forest Richmond didn't appreciate Halloween, which annoyed me, because Halloween was one of my favorite holidays. I opened a can of Fancy Feast for Twix, and set her bowl down. It was seven fifteen. I had already done my hair, I just put it in to a French braid, I thought it looked nice. Since breakfast was in forty-five minutes, I decided I should probably rouse Miranda so she could shower and stuff. I shook Miranda awake. "Miranda," I said, not bothering to wake her gently, "Miranda it's time to get up." She just moaned and rolled over. Fine Miranda, we're going to have to do this the hard way. I opened the mini freezer, got an ice pack out, and stuffed it down the back of Miranda's shirt. "AAAAHHHHH!!!!!" she screamed while doing a little cold dance, "Get it off!!!!" I really tried my best not to, but I just burst into laughter. Miranda finally got the ice pack from her shirt and threw it at me. "It's not funny!" she said indignantly. "I could have gone to the bathroom and dumped cold water on you," I said.
  4. Miranda sighed. "Could you just shake me next time?" she asked. "I tried," I said, "But you just moaned and turned away." Miranda smirked. "Oh, and breakfast is in forty-five minutes," I tried not to smile at the horrified look on her face. She ran to the bathroom and turned the shower on. I heard a scream and couldn't resist saying, "Did the murderer get you?" She was screaming because she got right into the shower and the water took a minute to warm up. About twenty minutes later, Miranda came hopping on one leg, trying to get a shoe on the other, fully dressed. "I still need to do my hair," she groaned. I offered to braid her hair which she accepted, and soon her hair looked good. "Thanks," she said, examining my handiwork. "It looks really good." she said happily after a full check of her hair. By that time it was seven fifty. "Let's go," I said. We walked over to the cafeteria where there weren't very many people. "Let me guess," I said, "You don't have to eat lunch on campus, you can just buy your own stuff. And most of the time people just sleep through breakfast and wake up for classes. Am I right?" "Yup," Miranda said. Me and Miranda got on line, which was very short and got scrambled eggs, bacon, and orange juice. We sat down at a table and started eating. I still wasn't looking forward to classes, but I always dread things I don't want to do. I guess Tara was one of those people who never showed up for breakfast. Tara screaming in my dream came back to me and I flinched.
  5. "Are you okay, _______?" Miranda asked, looking very concerned. I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine, I just.......had a bad dream last night." "That's not good. Well, at least it's over now. Did you know that if you have spicy or greasy foods before bed, you're more likely to have nightmares? The same with certain medications!" Miranda kept talking in her Mirandaish way, while I kind of zoned out. After a little bit I vaguely heard Miranda say it was time to get to class. I returned to the rest of the world and nodded. Miranda didn't have any classes with me besides Advanced English, which was fourth period after lunch. I slung my bag over my shoulder and headed to Italian. Once I got to class, I realized I was early, so I picked a chair in the almost back row. I know I shouldn't be so anti-social, but it's my first day, I don't want to draw any unnecessary attention to myself. Slowly, the rest of the class arrived, and then Mr. Mancini came in. "Buongiorno buona classe." he said. Which meant good morning class. "We have new student today, and I want you to try and make her feel at home, say hello to _______ ________!" Mr. Mancini motioned for me to stand up, so I did. After a minute I sat down and Mr. Mancini started talking. "Alright, so, since we have a new student, I'm going to go over the rules we have in this class. One, there is no talking unless I permit it. Two, when you speak in this class, you only speak in Italian. That rule doesn't quite apply yet, since no one here is good enough to to do that. And, that's it." he turned to me, "I know you're a still a little new here, so I won't press on you for knowledge yet, but I'll expect you to catch on quickly." "Actually," I began to say. "Yes I know, I don't mind if you're not that fast of a learner just" he continued. "That's not what I was going to say," I said. "What?" he asked, quite confused. I sighed. "Il signor Mancini," I began standing up, "Io sono abbastanza familiare con l'italiano, sono stato imparando da settembre e penso che sto cosí¬ educati con esso, come chiunque altro in questa classe oltre a te. Grazie." I finished, and sat down. Everyone in the classroom was staring at me. Either because I just interrupted the teacher, or because I seemed to be fluent in Italian, which I wasn't, but they were still staring at me.
  6. Translation to what I said: 'Mr. Mancini, I am quite familiar with Italian, I have been learning it since September and I think I'm about as well educated with it as anyone else in this classroom besides you. Thank you.' That might of not made the best impression, but at least I got my point across. Mr. Mancini was also gaping at me, probably wondering how I knew how to say that. "Uh, well yes. My apologies Miss _______, I see now that you are most capable of keeping up with this class, and you won't need any special tutoring from some of my better students." he said, still somewhat in a daze. "Moving on," he said, continuing to teach the class. After class was over, I grabbed my books, stuffed them in my satchel, and tried to leave the room. Unfortunately, not all of the other students were exactly happy that I had previous schooling and was probably better than them. Particularly not the top students. Some random girl called me a show-off. A group of other kids ran up to me and asked if I could please tutor them, and then they laughed and walked away. Life stinks. You do well in class, and then you do badly in life. I walked to Algebra ll, which had Tara in it, so maybe it wouldn't stink too badly. Algebra also stunk because it's boring, but at least people weren't calling me a show-off or a know-it-all. When I was on the way to History, Tara caught up with me. "So, you're Mr. Mancini's new prodigy?" I groaned. Give this school one period and everyone knows. "Yeah, and now I hate myself for doing it. Everyone hates me now." Tara shrugged. "They're probably just jealous." she said. History was with Ms. Clark, and that wasn't too bad. After that it we had fifteen minutes till lunch. I decided to get there early so I wouldn't have to wait a million years in line.
  7. I ate lunch quickly and went to Advanced English with Miranda. After I was finally done with classes, I went back to Ivory. I flopped down on my bed and groaned. Miranda came in and said, "Hey, do you want to go to Churros?" "Not now, I'm going to sleep," I said, setting my phone alarm. "Okay, but me and Tara are going now, so if you can make it we'll see you then." Miranda left. I checked the time, it was three forty-five. I'd wake up in an hour and feed Twix dinner. Then I could go to Churros, I wanted to talk to Katelyn about something anyway. I dozed off, and for once, I didn't have any weird dreams. I woke up two hours later and realized I'd slept through my alarm clock. It was five fifty. I fed Twix and grabbed my satchel. I took off towards the bus stop. Unfortunately, I think I tripped on something, because I started falling. I closed my eyes, and braced myself for the impact of hitting the ground, but it didn't come. I opened my eyes and saw that I was about five inches from the ground. Why didn't I hit the ground? Someone had caught me. I turned my head and saw Vincent, who had is arms around my waist so I wouldn't fall. He pulled me back to my feet. "Thanks," I said. "No problem, are you okay?" I nodded. "Where are you going that you were in such a rush?" he asked. "Bus stop, and it's leaving in about five minutes." I replied, checking to see if the bus was there. "Ah, I see. Well, you don't want to miss the bus and sit around for another hour. So, go ahead." I turned and started to walk away. "Oh and _______? Be careful." Vincent called after me. "Okay!" I called back.
  8. I walked quickly to the bus stop, being careful not to trip again. Hummus pulled up the bus promptly. "Good evening lass." he said casually. "Good evening Hummus," I replied. I sat down. There was a woman on the bus, which surprised me because I only saw students and Hummus on this bus. I decided to ignore her, why did it matter if she was on the bus? I looked out the window and thought about what Vincent said to me. Why was I supposed to be careful? Was he joking because I had just tripped? Or something much more serious than that? The bus stopped and I walked straight to Churros, who was having a community talent show. I didn't know they did that. I went up to Katelyn, who was behind the counter washing dishes and humming along to the singer. "When did you start doing talent shows?" I asked. "It's a thing we do every once in a while, it's good for business and it's fun to watch." she leaned in, "Earlier, there was a girl who couldn't stay on key at all! And I don't mean to be rude, but it was hilarious. Now, was there something you wanted?" "Did you see a girl with short dark brown hair and glasses? Oh and she was with another girl with straight auburn hair." Katelyn shook her head. "Didn't see them today. But they do show up a lot." I sighed. Miranda must have lied to me, but why? She wanted me to come, but she didn't show up at all. "Thanks anyway." I said. I bought a cup of hot chocolate and some crumb cake for Miranda and Tara, I didn't really feel like they deserved such good crumb cake after not showing up, but I would probably eat it if I decided not to give it to them.
  9. I watched the rest of the talent show which was somewhat impressive, thought a lot of the numbers were hilarious because the people were not good. I know, I'm a bad person. After the show I went up to Katelyn again. "Katelyn? What should I wear for work?" I asked. "Oh, just wear plain black pants and a collared white button up shirt. We'll provide you with an apron and name tag." "Thanks." I said. I checked the clock that was shaped like a coffee cup and realized I had been there for two hours. It was almost eight. I walked outside and sat on the bench, waiting for Hummus. Fifteen minutes passed. No Hummus. Another fifteen minutes passed. Still no Hummus. I had to be back on campus by nine on school nights, where was he? I walked a little bit down the road, trying to see if Hummus was coming. Nope. I sighed and started to tap my foot impatiently. I walked a little further down the road. Nothing
  10. I groaned. How was I supposed to get back? I tried walking back, but I couldn't move. All of the sudden, my entire ody was numb, and I couldn't feel anything except for fear. Someone, or something, grabbed my shoulder and breathed in my ear, "It's time." I heard a horrible laugh, and everything went black.
