Reading Level Quiz

Read the passage and answer the questions at the end. If you don't know the answer, you may read the story again. When the quiz is over, your score will determine your basic reading level. This reading level scale is based on elementary reading levels.

Fred lives with his mom in the town of West Hills Valley. His dad left his mom when he was 8. His dad lost his job due to a drug problem, and his mom couldn't take it anymore. It's hard living without a dad, especially because his mom has to work 50 hours a week just to pay the bills and feed Fred. The class was going to have a field day next week, and one of the competitions was a father son obstacle course. Fred was disappointed. His mom worked all day and Fred has no uncles, his mom is an only child. One day at recess, he met this kid named James. James also had a problem. James has two dads and only one of them is allowed to compete. James really wants both of his dads to compete. So Fred told James if maybe one of his dads could compete with him and he will compete with the other. James talked to his teacher and his parents and they all said yes. Field Day came along and they all prepared to race. But there was a problem, the obstacles got struck by lightning and everything turned into debris. Lucky for James, his dads worked in construction and has plenty of materials in their trucks. So they managed to make a new obstacle course in no time. Neither James nor Fred won the race, but they all had fun.
