I was born & raised in UT. & have lived primarily in UT & CO... How could I be mistaken for being from Florida or other Big Southern states??? :P

On does not rhyme with Don or dawn in my part of the South. It rhymes with own but that wasn't a choice. It would take a much longer test to really accomplish what this attempts to do.

SO far from correct! I am as Southern as anybody can get, born & raised in MS by MS mom & Al dad. Our family has been Southern as far back as any of them could be traced, which was VA in the late 1600's. PHILADELPHIA???? I've never even BEEN there!

You said I had a 97 percent NY Accent. Actually i am 100 percent Baltimore. I think there are substantial differences between the accents of my NYC cousins and mine.

I live in South Carolina, my whole entire extended family is from Ohio, and it said I have a Western accent, which it said is like neutral/having no accent

I'm a Brit, and I'm placed as Rhode I or Conn, which I think is New England area, so that seems as near as it could get, really. I'd have been surprised had it said I was from TX, lol.
-
Pennsylvania is almost South Texas - except for the part about moving all over the country, including Pennsylvania, Kentucky, California, Alabama, Louisiana, New Jersey, and Michigan...

Well it said I came from midland northeast as in Chicargo, great lakes Naaah and i don't and never have said pop.@nd closest percentage was philly closer to new york, new jersey where I am from.
-
Quiz result was way off. I am a native Californian, and when I am out of state, people ask me if I am from Cal, but quiz rated me as "North Central". We are not impressed.
-
Lol, I got the Inland North. I grew up mostly in the south though. I've lived in the North for around 5 years.. but the south, I have been living for around 6 years. :P It's kinda obvious, it doesn't matter.
Zezima1 -
Not even close. I was born in South Carolina, grew up in Georgia, & moved back to South Carolina in 1999. But my result was...wait for it...Philadelphia. X-D

I knew it would tell me I had a Philadelphia accent -- and it was 100%, too. Born and raised, and will eat a cheese steak, scrapple, or turtle soup any time!
-
Yes, I'm from the northeast (upstate NY), but carbonated drinks were called "soda" or "soft drinks" in my day, not "pop", so you got that wrong.
Hiker1 -
North Central, though I'm from Oregon. A few people have thought I was Canadian, odd since Oregon speech is supposedly 90% the same as California.
-
now for the real comment:
I got midland, which is totally not right. I'm from Charlotte, North Carolina, and I have a slight southern accent and say ya'll all the time.
aqua1231 -
Philadelphia accent? I don't think so. Your quiz results are inaccurate. I did spend 3 months in Philadelphia, and that was more than enough.
-
The quiz says I am from the south......well anything is better than nothing...any way I am from Egypt,a teacher of English and very proud of the American accent..
My greetings to you all

Philadelphia. I got, Philadelphia.
I live an Asian country called Taiwan, and the farthest place I went is my mom's hometown in the Philippines.
Go figure.
-
Your quiz got my accent so wrong! I was born in Ohio but never lived there past the age of 1 year. I have been in Fl since before turning 2 years old. My son got the same result and he has lived in Florida all of his life.
-
It says BOSTON for me. I have never been to or lived anywhere near the Boston area. I was born in Ohio and have lived in California for 67 years.
willworn1 -
Quite amusing...your test tells me that I am from the north-west or the New England region...wrong..I am German and learned proper (British) English. Most people ask me if I'm English.
Iris D1 -
Well, the quiz was right about northeast, but did not get the specific of Long Island. To be fair, I'm told I speak with very little accent.
jeffk481 -
Possibly some people aren't sure how they really do pronounce words. I thought it was simple to answer and the results were exactly - Midland.

I got a Philadelphia accent, but I'm in the East Coast! That's so weird, I've never been to Philly! But I do love cheese steak.... Beef and cheese is so delicious. .-.
