Halo fans getting p---- because sprint is in halo is (to me, at least) like letting someone borrow your VR headset to play on and getting mad that they adjusted the headset to fit their head.
b----.
Explain how tf moving faster than usual is a bad mechanic -
seriously that last part isn't rhetorical

I have never played Halo and have never about this "drama" regarding sprinting, but after looking into it some I think I understand and maybe agree with at least some of the people who oppose
The first argument against it is that adding sprinting requires the developers to design larger maps. Otherwise with sprinting you could cover the whole map too quickly. Larger maps are generally more bland because they can't add as much detail, and more area can slow down gameplay if there's too much space between you and the enemies (I could be wrong about the last point, since I haven't played and don't know how Halo matches flow)
The other argument I've seen is that having the additional mobility mechanic changes the flow of combat/how fights are played out. As I said I've never played Halo, but I can definitely understand how changing something like that can be frustrating or a downright negative change. For example, I used to play a lot of R6 Siege. You can't jump in R6, but if the developers added something as "simple" as jumping, while it would make traversing the maps a little easier, it would also have huge changes on how gunfights turned out and it would drastically change how the game is played -
It's not really drama, it's something the community didn't like.
and, for the first point, vehicles. halo 1 had some big maps (i.e. blood gulch) and many were actually moved to Halo Reach. funny thing, i've played the anniversary maps, they don't feel different from H1.
And sprinting isn't really that much faster in halo, but it's noticeable.
if anything, sprinting helped, because of how large some maps were. if you were in a relatively large map in an older halo game, you had to hope that a vehicle was lying around, as walking speed was COMEDICALLY slow in games.
sprinting just made traversing large maps on foot slightly less tedious. CMIIAW, but i'm pretty sure the Scorpion tank at max speed is faster than walking.
again, sprinting simply makes on foot movement better.
Also: Blood gulch. Death Island.
Two of the largest maps in the original halo. Traversing on foot is tedious as hell, you're better off finding a warthog or ghost.
I'm actually fairly certain that death island is larger than the biggest 4v4 map in Halo infinite.
BTB exists. FAR larger maps, imagine having to traverse those with no sprint or vehicles.
