Thread Topic: Old games vs New games

This is like a debate
So maybe the positive will be new games and the negative will be old games -
I cannot take a stance on this. Without the old games we wouldn't have the new games.
I'm blown away by modern games and technology. So many games these days look out of this world and VR is crazy and the sheer amount of data we are able to process is insane!yet somehow we still can't fix the simplest of online game bugs
On the other hand though I'm such a sucker for nostalgia! I love how much depth and lore a lot of classic developers like Atari or even Bungie put into into their games. It seemed like gaming was more pure in it's earlier phases. Less driven by money and more driven by the pure desire to see what you could create. Growing up everything was super mystical and pure. Gaming was fun and not nearly as toxic as it is now. -
Gotta say its pretty dope that i never had old games ask me to buy a season pass of content that should have been in the game but was released as dlc at launch

Like mint, I can’t take a stance on this either. I mean, legend of Zelda(original) can be just as fun as sonic mania. Minecraft can be just as fun as smash bros. There is too much diversity and too many ways that you could interpret that question, like, what do you classify as old and what do classify as new?

@Mint - Yeah! The level of toxicity in the modern days, well, it's drastically rising :(
@ZeroNightShade - Yep, it is pretty dope lol.
@The1ForU - Well, old games basically mean ones like the older consoles in the olden days (PS2, Xbox (original), and Nintendo 64... etc) and newer games on the newer consoles in the modern days (PS4/5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch... etc)
That's kinda what I mean... -
I think old and new games each tend to have their own pros and cons.
Old games were far more limited by technology. Graphics sucked, and games were TINY in comparison. I remember our old PS2 memory card was 8 MB. My Switch memory card is 256 GB and is like a quarter of the physical size. New game developers are able to do so much more with their games and make them so much better
However, as everyone else has said, most major game companies now only care about the money. Loot boxes, battle passes, DLC, it's hard to find any new games that don't have any sort of micro transactions. Developers are also put on time constraints and are often forced to release games before they're ready.
Not all game are like this, but I do wish more were able to ignore the greed and develop a game they can truly be passionate about
