Essentially, things go like this
My family has seven members, an thus cannot afford new consoles often
I had a PS3 that I co-bought with my brother, which he sold (I don't know how or why) and I came to like this past generation of games much more than I expected. For the last few years, I've been on a retro binge-considering older consoles are cheap to pay for these days- and really, Ive played most games I've wanted to play on the console I own, and I'm satisfied, but I want something new, something modern.
Que the Xbox 360.
A console which is slowly falling out of favor due to the success of the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U consoles, all with new technologies and wallet-aching price tags. As Xbox 360 games still incorporate the same, modern style of gameplay that the newer consoles do, albeit at more limited capacities.
Why not the PS3, you may say? Considering many of this last generation's greatest game were multiplatform titles, I would obviously go for the one that would run them better, and the Xbox 360 wins hands down. The other aspect is backwards compatibility, which I know will be constant on any model I buy, unlike the various models of PS3 which always had ps1 compatibility (which in HD is nice), but rarely ever had PS2 backwards support, which is a major turn-off for me, as the consoles that do often are the most expensive, which kills it for me.
Another factor is price. Starting at the white 360s, they're now refurbished at major chains like GameStop at only $99, as opposed to $200 starting point for the PS3.
Call me whatever you'd like, but I'm looking forward to seeing an Xbox 360 under my tree this year.
