Well in part because humans aren't exactly at pur healthiest as a whole...a lot of us are starving, and those who arent, are eating toxic food.
In part simply because we dont, our bodies arent used to it. If we started, wed be better able to in short order.
And then also, partly, we can usually eat off the floor with no ill effects -
So if I started to eat off the floor and then got my husband to and we reproduced, old we start a super race that can eat off the floor?

It depend what kind of floor you mean, a lot of people have eaten something that's fallen on the floor and not been ill.
Also mainly because animals have their heads closer to the floor and can't pick things up.
