“Mm, yeah,” George mumbled with a nod, moving his hands to rub his eyes. “How was school?”

“Torturous-“ Clay half-joked, chuckling softly. He held George close, rubbing his back with a small smile.

“Aw. I’m sorry,” George said, sighing quietly and resting his head on Clay’s shoulder.

“It’s fine- I just really hate school,” Clay said with a sigh, holding George close and kissing the side of his head. “And I’m just, really bad at school, so-“

“Oh, I’m sorry about that, hun,” George said with a soft smile, resting a hand on his side and rubbing it gently with his thumb.

“It’s alright,” Clay spoke softly, hugging George closer. “It’s no wonder I got held back, though, honestly.”

“Is there a specific reason? Or you just don’t like school?” George asked softly.

“I dunno- I’m just bad at school, I guess,” Clay murmured, exhaling softly. “Like, I- I don’t know, I just don’t- I don’t understand what I’m being taught and no matter how people explain it, I just- I don’t get it…”

George lifted his head, running a hand through Clay’s hair. “Hey, that’s valid, though-“

“I just feel like an idiot, sometimes-“ Clay murmured, exhaling softly.

“Well. you’re not, okay? You should’ve seen me at the start of culinary school-“ George said with a chuckle and a reassuring smile.

Clay chuckled softly, watching George with a small smile. “I just- I don’t know, sometimes I think there’s something wrong with me-“ He mumbled, sighing softly.

George shrugged a little. “So what if there is. Does that define you?”

“When you’re famous and royalty like me, kind of, yes- If I’m not this ‘picture perfect guy’, the media makes everyone hate you,” Clay muttered, burying his face in George’s shoulder.

“Oh, hun, no,” George said softly, rubbing Clay’s back. “That’s not true- well- I don’t hate you.”
