“Noo, I don’t want you to pay- At least let me give you gas money,” Chris said with a quiet chuckle, a hint of guilt seeping into his voice.

‘It’s okay, promise,’ Mason said with a smile, patting Chris’ shoulder. They got to the parking lot and Mason opened the passenger door for Chris.

Chris sighed dramatically, chuckling with a nod. He walked over to the car, jokingly bowing a little. “Why, thank you, good sir~” He said playfully, a dorky grin on his face as he climbed into the car.

Mason blushed and looked down slightly. 'You're welcome,' he said sheepishly, shutting the door and walking to the driver's side. He climbed inside and started the car.

Chris smiled and buckled up, shutting the car door. “To Chick-Fil-A!” He said, chuckling softly.

Mason laughed and pulled on his seatbelt and backed out of the car park.

Chris smiled, glancing over at his friend for a moment before pulling out his phone.

Mason glanced at him, then put his eyes back on the road.

Chris reached a hand up and turned on the radio, putting on some music to drown out the silence. “I’m so excited for the game this week, my God,” he said, chuckling softly.

'Who are you versing?' Mason asked, pretending to be interested in sports.

“It’s Marshville High, y’know the one on Maine Street? The big-ass school that just got remodeled?” Chris said, reclining the seat a little. “They’ve got a good soccer team, I know a few of the guys who go there~”

'Right. Are they nice?' Mason asked, glancing at Chris for a moment then back in front of them.

“Yeah, they’re great,” Chris said with a smile, nodding. “Some of them I knew from middle school and from my old neighborhood.”

'Nice,' Mason said with a slight smile. He glanced at Chris for a moment, smiling wider and looking back away.

“You sure I can’t pay for the food?” Chris asked, a hint of nervousness slipping in his voice.
