Cifarelli walked to a different part of the university, the front office, where he could enroll. Thankfully, there wasn’t much of a line, so he could do it quickly. He wasn’t interested in human classes. He needed to find more about that “human”, Zeke. There was nothing not quite right about the other man, other than the fact Cifarelli was somewhat drawn to him.
He walked back to the check-in spot - Zeke wasn’t there, thankfully - and waited in line to be checked in. -
As Zeke peered around the dorms halls, it looked like a maze. He could see as everyone was settled into their rooms. Some doors were open, and some were closed. His room, was on the first floor (thankfully), closer to the end of the hallway. He looked at the room number on his sheet, and matched it to the one on the wall. It was room number 14. Damien took a key out of his pocket that the lady had given him at check-in, and peered inside. The room wasn't extravagant, but it would be home this semester. In the room there seemed to be one bathroom, with your regular run of the mill shower. There were two beds, that came with a basic sheet, blanket and pillow combo. A singular desk that sat in-between the beds, with a rolling chair. Guess whoever his room-mate was, was going to have to fight over that desk with him.
He walked into the room a little further, and closed the door. Branching out from the bedroom there was a little kitchenette, and then a very small den area. "Not bad." He muttered, raising an eye-brow. He sat on the bed, and took the letter out of his pocket. On the front, all it said was; From: M -
Cifarelli impatiently waited to be checked in. Eventually, he got to the front of his line, got his locker and room key, and walked up into the university. Why were maps of large buildings so confusing? He walked down the hall, eyes moving from his map to the path, and opened the door to his dorm.
-
Damien seemed to be focused on the letter in his hands. He ripped it open, and sat down in the den to read it.
Dear Zeke,
Hopefully everything in that locker will help you with blending in on earth. I know this is hard on you, but try to think of the positives. If everything goes right for a year, you'll get to come home. Even as I write this, I can't think of what it's going to be like up here without you. It definitely won't be the same. I know the other arch-angels are going to miss you too.
Sincerely,
M
Damien took a deep breath, and folded the letter. He thought about it for a moment, the stood up, walking back to the entrance of the dorm. The door opened, to a familiar face. -
Cifarelli looked around. He noticed Zeke and smirked. 'And we meet again, Zeke,' he said, shutting the door behind him and walking into the room. He chucked a duffel bag onto his bed and turned to look at the other man. 'Guess we're roomies, huh?'
-
Zeke felt his heart jump in his chest. This was definitely one of the weirdest coincidences he had ever encountered. "Well, hello. Fancy seeing you here." He said, slightly confused. He was happy to see a familiar face, but a feeling of unease crept in his chest. Not about Cifarelli himself, but the feeling that he couldn't place.
-
‘You too. Did you find your locker and everything okay?’ Cifarelli asked, unzipping his duffel bag. He looked back over at Zeke, then around the room, eyes narrowing. ‘And why don’t you have any luggage?’
-
"Uh....." Zeke ruffled his hair. He sucked at coming up with things on the spot. "I-it...." He sputtered, his thoughts racing to find the right words. "It.....just hasn't gotten here yet." He felt his heart hammering in his chest. "And I was able to find my locker." He said, sitting on the other bed. "It had all of my stuff for my classes in it, so I'm all set in that department."
-
Cifarelli arched an eyebrow. ‘Right,’ he said, watching Zeke for a few moments, then sitting down. He could see how nervous the man was, which confused him. ‘You’re going to have to wear the same clothes before your luggage shows up, though,’ he pointed out, opening his duffel bag.
-
"Yeah.." He said quietly. "But, it should be here soon....hopefully." In reality, he probably didn't have anything coming, and Michael was supposed to take care of everything for him. Now, he had to figure out where he was going to get clothes. Especially since he didn't think he had any money either. This was going to be harder than he thought. His first time on earth, and he was vastly unprepared.
-
Cifarelli watched him for a moment, eyes narrowed, before looking away. He pulled out his clothes from his duffel bag and hung them up in the shared closet they were given, making sure to leave half of the space for Zeke. ‘It’s like we’re in boarding school and 12 years old again,’ he grumbled. Boarding schools in hell were not fun.
-
"Boarding school?" Zeke said quizzically. "What was that like?" He said, looking at Cifarelli. Boarding schools were not something heaven had. He was curious as to what it was like.
-
‘Living at school sucks. I didn’t mind being around friends, but we had barely any freedom,’ Cifarelli said, hanging up his good shorts. ‘Also a kid threw my suitcase in a lake once.’ It had actually been a pit of fire.
-
"Oh my...." Zeke said, imagining the school that Cifarelli went to. "That doesn't sound like a pleasant experience." Zeke shook his head. "Not to sound mean," The man started. "But what were your parents thinking when they sent you there. It sounds horrible."
-
‘Eh, most schools are like that, boarding or not,’ Cifarelli said, shrugging. ‘Pretty sure my dad just wanted me out of his way. I was a feral kid,’ he added with a short laugh, setting a devil figurine on a shelf and walking back to his duffel bag, rummaging through.
