Connor chuckled, watching Evan for a moment. He unzipped his hoodie and took it off, wrapping it around his waist. "You need help with yours?" He asked, lifting up a hand to his boyfriend's face and revealing the scars on the undersides.
-
“Uh, no,” Evan said, getting it off and throwing it away. He smiled and grabbed Connor’s hand, frowning as he saw the cuts. “Are these new?” He asked quietly, looking up at the brunette.
-
Connor glanced down for a moment, shrugging. "Depends on your definition of new," he replied, chuckling softly. "But no, some- some of them are really old, like- back when I was in middle school. Some are more recent, from last year."
-
“Were those the latest? Last year?” Evan asked quietly, twining their hands together.
-
"Mm, yeah- Except for one," Connor replied, bringing his free hand to his arm and running it across the scars. His finger stopped on one close to his wrist, touching it gently. "The day I met you, before I came to the park. I uhm, I don't know, I guess- I guess I was just feeling s--- that day..."
-
Evan squeezed his hand, nodding a little. “Huh, okay.” He said softly, taking a step forward and resting his chin on Connor’s neck. “Have you thought about it a lot since then?”
-
"Uhm, I- I mean, sometimes-" Connor exhaled shakily, resting his chin against Evan's head. "I guess I- I have more recently, with- with everything going on..."
-
“That’s fair, hun,” Evan said softly, wrapping his arms around Connor. “Will you tell me whenever you feel like doing it?”
-
"Mhm," Connor hummed shakily in response, hugging onto Evan. "I- I mean, I've been clean since- since that day, s-so- There's that," he murmured, chuckling anxiously. "I- I mean, I still- I still hurt myself, like- like the nail picking-" He buried his face in his neck, exhaling shakily.
-
“Hey, I’m proud of you for staying clean,” Eva said softly, rubbing his back. “That’s really hard to do, especially if you’ve been thinking about it.”
-
Connor nodded, hugging Evan close. "At- At least I'm not, y'know, tryna kill myself again-" He quickly cut himself, groaning internally. "Jesus, I need to learn t-to shut up..."
-
“When was that?” Evan asked quietly, frowning and tightening his grip on Connor. “You don’t have to say it if you don’t want to.”
-
"No, I- It's okay, I just-" Connor exhaled and lifted his head, an awkward look on his face. "I wouldn't want to- to ruin the mood any- anymore than I already have-"
-
“Well, if you don’t want to, fine, but,” Evan said quietly, looking up at Connor. “I came here to hang out with you. And if this is you, something you’ve gone through. It doesn’t make you, but I don’t mind hearing it.”
-
Connor paused as he calmed down a bit, looked up and watched Evan for a moment, a small smile appearing on his face. "Maybe another time," he spoke softly, rubbing Evan's back with his thumb. "How about wrap up this facial?" He suggested, leaning forward and kissing his boyfriend's cheek.
