“Oh, Connor, I know,” Evan said softly, wrapping his arms around Connor’s neck and gently rubbing his head. “I hate him too.”

Connor hugged onto Evan, sobbing quietly. He buried his face in the crook of his neck, shaking as he clung to his boyfriend.

Evan gently pet Connor’s head, shushing him quietly. “I’m so sorry, honey. I’m so, so sorry. I wish I could’ve been there before he got to you. You didnt deserve any of that.”

Connor exhaled shakily as he lifted his head, rubbing his eyes. "It's not your fault," he spoke softly, wrapping his arms around his waist. He sighed, watching Evan for a moment. "I'm just sorry you had to see that..."

“No, no, honey,” Evan shook his head, locking his sympathetic eyes with Connor’s. “Don’t be sorry. You wouldn’t have let that happen if you had the choice, okay? Never be sorry for something you can’t control.”

"B-But, I just- Stood there and- and took it," Connor spoke, tears filling his eyes again. "If- If no one was there, I-" He exhaled shakily, squeezing his eyes shut. "I don't even want to think about that..."

“Yeah, and y’know the fight or flight response? You froze, which is one of them too,” Evan said, moving a hand onto Connor’s face, rubbing his cheek with his hand. “It’s part of flight, hun. I saw you, you were basically mentally trying to run away, cause you were scared.” -

"I-I know, but- I felt so helpless," Connor murmured, exhaling shakily. He brought a hand up to his face, rubbing his jaw. "God, it's like I can still feel his hand on it," he spoke softly, looking down at his feet. -

Evan watched Connor for a second. “I’m so sorry. I won’t let him hurt you again. I won’t let him touch you again, okay? Promise.” -

Connor nodded, leaning forward and hugging onto Evan again. -

Evan hummed quietly, wrapping his arms around Connor. He gently led him to the bed, sitting him down and moving to sit next to him. -

Connor pressed his body against Evan's, burying his face in his chest. "I wish I never dated him, so I never had to deal with this s---," he muttered, anger in his voice. "Such a stupid idea..." -
“I know,” Evan whispered quietly, laying down and pulling Connor with him. “But you didn’t know. You can’t blame yourself for that.”
