"Please? I'll eat one of the blue hair candies if you do."

Mahina thought about that for a moment. ‘Fine.’

Ernie cheered.

She fished one of the blue candies out of the bag and held it out to him. ‘Eat up.’

"No, you have to tell me first."

‘No!’ Mahina protested.

"Fine!" Ernie ate the candy. His hair turned electric blue.

Mahina giggled. ‘You look adorable,’ she teased.

Ernest laughed. "Yes, yes, now stop stalling and tell me what you were thinking about."

‘I was thinking about how handsome you are and that I’m crushing a lot on you,’ Mahina said quickly as if it could spare the embarrassment, very red and warm in the face.

Ernie blushed bright red. "Believe me, the feeling's mutual." He said after a moment, chuckling shyly.

Mahina flushed even more, if it was possible. ‘W-Well, right,’ she stuttered. She never stuttered, unless someone was interrogating her if they suspected she was a witch.

Ernest noticed the stutter, chuckling. "You're pretty cute when you're flustered, y'know."

Mahina blushed. ‘N-No I’m n-not,’ she mumbled, which didn’t exactly prove her point.
