Chester laughed. 'You actually own fireworks?' he asked, gently pushing Jayden off him so he could stand up. He wasn't sure if his boyfriend would like a picture of him carrying him on the front page of the local newspaper, however romantic it was.

Jayden didn't want to move, but he reluctantly stood up. "I wish. We're just buying them."

'Is it safe to light fireworks off a balcony? Have you done it before?' Chester asked. He couldn't really ask him not to do it, but he didn't want his boyfriend to get hurt.

Jayd could hear the concern in Chester's voice, and thought for a bit. "I haven't checked to see if it is, and no. How about this: we can do it off of one of the towers, or I can find an open field and do it there. Sound good?"

'I suppose...' Chester trailed off, grabbing Jayden's hand and gently rubbing his thumbs over the back of it. 'I just really don't want you to get hurt.'

"Hey, I won't get hurt. I won't light any super-scary-you'll-die-if-you-light-them type fireworks, ok? Just some medium-sized ones." He kissed Chester's hand.

Chester sighed softly, giving a weak smile. 'Alright. If you're sure, hun.'

"I'll be fine, love." Jayden answered with a soft smile back. "But I won't do it if you don't want me to."

Chester gently kissed the back of Jayden's hand. 'I don't mind. I guess this is why Maeve calls me a stick in the mud,' he said with a soft laugh.

"Clearly you do mind if you're this worried about it. And you're my stick in the mud, so it's all good." Jayd kissed his nose. He could hear more chattering and camera clicking.

Chester chuckled, leaning into his touch. ‘Fair enough, love.’ He sighed in exasperation when he heard the reporters. ‘We should probably get moving.’

Jayden gave a small nod. "Probably. Do you want me to buy the fireworks, or would you rather I get something else?"

‘I don’t mind, love. You can do what you want,’ Chester said, pulling him close.

"Fine. But I'm getting you a sparkler so you can have fun too." Jayd smiled.

Chester laughed quietly. ‘Fine, okay. Let’s go.’
