Jayden raised his eyebrows, though didn't say anything. He supposed this was how his older brother was greeted by his townspeople, but after a while they stopped doing it to Jayden, seeing he was so... Unlike a typical royal.
-
The servant walked Jayden and his bodyguard into the castle. The halls and corridors twisted and turned, unlike a human castle would. It was decorated with expensive wallpaper and golden vases and hanging portraits of past royals, friends of royals and the such. They got to Chester's throne room.
'I present King Chest Jackson,' the servant said. Guards opened the large doubles doors to reveal a large room with a rather bored-looking man on the throne. -
Chester*)
-
Jayd was too busy looking at all the extravagant decorations to notice the double doors opening, and when he did, he quickly ran up to the room and gave an elaborate bow. "Hello, sir." He said, and the words felt weird to say out loud. He obviously knew that was how kings were supposed to be addressed, but he'd never actually said it to someone considering all the royalty he knew were his family.
(Sorry for keeping you waiting!) -
(All good!)
Chester raised an eyebrow. 'Good morning,' he said. He didn't think too much of this strange behaviour - perhaps that was how human kings acted. He stood and walked down the platform that elevated his throne a metre higher than the normal ground. As he walked down the steps the sound of his shoes echoed around the silent room. 'I trust you slept well in the carriage?' -
Jayden stood up straight, nodding. "As well as I normally sleep." He said, not bothering to add that he rarely ever got sleep. He didn't know what else to do, so he just looked at Chester with a friendly but curious expression.
-
'Good,' Chester responded. He glanced at his servant, who stood by the door. 'Arthur, get the guards to unload Celeste's carriage and carry his things to the guest room.' He paused, before adding, 'Please.'
Arthur bowed. 'Yes, sire,' he said before scurrying off.
Chester looked back at Jayden. 'I suppose I'd better show you to your room, then.' -
Jayd shrugged. "I suppose." He said, taking a step forward. His guard took another step forward as well. "Neo, I've got it under control. I think Mr. Jackson has better things to do than kill me."
-
'War wouldn't be a nice game,' Chester said. 'Come, then.' He walked towards the door, glancing behind him at Jayden.
-
Jayd nodded, walking through the door. "Exactly. Although a good murder mystery would be fun."
-
Chester raised an eyebrow, though didn't say anything else and led Jayden to his room in silence. The corridors twisted around in an absurd way, though Chester seemed to know his way around perfectly.
-
Jayden walked around. "How do you not get lost around here?" He asked, looking around at the twisty turny hallways. There were more tapestries and paintings around the hallways.
-
'Are your castles not like this?' Chester asked.
-
"No, they've got staircases that go up for miles. Irritating, but not quite as much of a maze. And our hallways don't have nearly as much decorations, but it's a nice touch."
-
'That's silly,' Chester said. 'All the rooms here suit the inhabitant's needs. For example, one of my housekeepers in a goblin, and so his room is smaller as goblins like enclosed spaces,' he said, gesturing to a small door on his right.
