Hazel rang the doorbell.
-
Cohen answered immediately, beaming. “Hey guys!”
-
Hazel smiled. ‘Hi.’
-
Theo grinned. “Hey!”
“Come on in! My parents are running errands, so they won’t be here for a bit.” Cohen looked pretty relieved about that. -
Hazel grinned. ‘Great!’ she said, stepping inside. ‘How’s it going with them, by the way?’
-
“It’s…” Cohen did a so-so hand gesture. “Better.”
-
‘Better that nothing,’ Hazel shrugged.
-
Theo stopped inside.
“Yeah. They’re still pissed about my grades though.” Cohen shrugged. “Anyways, you guys didn’t come here to talk about my parents, I assume.” -
Hazel rolled her eyes. ‘I mean, I’m fine with anything. Can I see your report card?’ She was always very nosey.
-
Cohen raised an eyebrow. “Sure.” He shrugged. “I have a photo of it on my phone.” He pulled it up and showed it to her.
-
Hazel looked at his phone, zooming in and out to read the tiny font. ‘You did fine! But you got a C+ in art, and that’s, like, the easiest subject.’
-
“Is not!” Cohen complained. “My art smudges and gets ruined!”
-
‘Well, that’s just because you’re left-handed,’ Hazel said, handing him back his phone. ‘We literally go to an art school. You’re supposed to be good at this.’
-
“I got in because of music, not because of my smudgy art!” Cohen chuckled.
-
‘Pfft,’ Hazel scoffed, handing him back his phone. ‘I don’t know what your parents are so mad about.’
