"let's just go explore and hike around near here, we should be able to find something," he leads her away from the campsite and into the trees to search for something to eat
-
Echo glanced around at the trees around them. Part of her was deep in thought and the other part was making sure to stay alert for any killers that could've followed them into the forest.
-
Heath was distracted looking for good plants to eat, "do you think we'll find any spruce trees here?"
-
'Maybe,' Echo responded, slightly absentmindedly as she walked. Spotting a silhouette in the distance, about the size and shape of a horse, Echo said, 'Uh.. Heath?'
-
he follows her gaze. "could be wild," he whispers, "wanna investigate or head back?"
-
As the horse trotted closer to them, Echo noticed tack on it and a man sat on the saddle with a bow and arrow pointing at them.
'Yeah, I don't reckon it's wild,' she said, a note of fear in her voice. -
(we need drama lmao.
Also gtg for dinner, I'll be back in 15-30 mins) -
(oml is he from the group that killed the village😱)
Heath stiffens, holding Echo still in case she decides to run off. "we come in peace," he states, holding his free arm in the air and hoping not to get killed today. -
(probably 🤷🏽♀️)
The man still held up his bow and arrow, looking them up and down. 'Empty your pockets,' he snapped.
Echo grabbed a few hairpins and a hairtie from the knot she'd untied from her hair before, chucking them on the ground. -
Heath tosses his pocket knife and a few rogue feather to the ground with the hand that was previously in the air
-
The man looked down at the items on the ground and dismounted his horse, grabbing the knife and putting it in his pocket.
'Good. You two are coming with me,' he said, holding up his weapon in case they decided to protest. Echo opened her mouth to say no, but was silenced by the arrow being aimed at her head. -
"are we walking or hitching a ride?" Heath jokes, though this was no time to be joking, or teasing a man who could have them dead.
-
Echo elbowed him in the ribs and watched as the man mounted his horse again and turned his animal around, back to them.
'Let's go. Follow me, or suffer the consequences,' he snapped.
'Do we run?' Echo whispered when the bandit started walking, barely audible to Heath. -
"yes, but not yet. i have a plan." Heath started following the man, walking slightly closer and closer to the horse unitl he was almost right next to it, then stabs it's flank with his fingernails, using the horses freak-out as a distraction, then steals the bow, whacks the man atop the head with it, and then grabs Echo's hand, yanking her back to the campsite to collect their belongings and then bail. "RUN!" he shouts to her, "it will take him a little while to calm the horse, so that will buy us some time." he snaps the bow in half and flings it behind him, "good riddance"
-
Echo ran in the direction he pulled her, back to the campsite. She was faster without the skirt and after a minute they were back at the camp. She grabbed her satchel and slung it over her shoulder and put out the fire.
