Echo was thinking the same thing as Heath. Her eyes widened. 'Do we have any more bread?'

"nope, sorry." "we can go to a market though. is $20 enough to get some food?"

'My house shouldn't be too far away. There'll be food there.'

They kept walking until they got to a rather large house. 'Ready?'

"yup," he knocks on the door and puts on a very gentlemanly face, waiting for someone to answer the door

There was a clatter and some shouting, before the door opened to reveal a middle-aged man in a grey suit.
'Carol, it's your daughter!' he called inside, and walked back inside the house. -
"hello sir. my name is Heath." he holds his hand out to shake

'Harold,' Echo's stepfather said, briskly shaking Heath's hand.
Echo's mother appeared in the doorway, her blue eyes looking Heath up and down and then darting Echo. -
"hello ma'am," he says, holding his hand out for her to shake as well

Carol didn't shake it, her eyes were still on Echo. After a moment she slapped Echo across the face.
'What was that for?!' Echo exclaimed, hand to her cheek.
'For leaving like that! Climbing through your bedroom window with no note!'
