Brook blinked. No one had ever said anything like that about the nobility, at least to his face. He liked it. Smiling wide, Brook said, “Honestly. I mean, someone could make dinner and they’d say ‘let’s have a party!’” He laughed. “What brings you to this strange party?”

Alina scrambles in her mind, trying to remember. "Ah.. My father, Mr. Holde, has been out sick, so he told me to come in his place." She explains.

Brook nodded. “I see. How are you finding it, coming in his place?”

Alina smiled at Brook. "Not many know my father had a daughter, so they give double takes when i say my name, like 'Holde, daughter of Julius Holde?' and it's getting annoying." she says jokingly.

“Wait, wait, wait,” Brook said, feigning surprise. “Julius Holde? You’re the daughter of Julius Holde?”

"Yes, I am Sarah Holde, daughter of Julius Holde." She says, chuckling. "My father didn't like talking about me much since I 'am not male and will not carry the family line.' He's really set on the old days." She explains, a grin on her face.

Brook grimaced. “Yikes. Well, he’s made a mistake, since you seem like a fun person. I think you’re the first person I’ve enjoyed talking to, actually, so kudos to you.” He smiled.

"thank you." Alina says. "i don't get out much either. i had one friend that would visit me every once in a while, but we got caught doing something and... well, she isn't allowed back." she says, making the 'oops that happened' face

Brook laughed, placing a hand to his chest. “Wow, okay, I didn’t see that coming. Have you had any other good friends since then, or…?”

"i've been alone since." she says. "but it doesn't really matter." she shrugs.

“Well, consider yourself no longer alone,” Brook said, “at least for tonight.” He took a sip of his drink.

"Thank you." Alina says. Her earpiece, covered by her hair, vibrated with the voice of her boss. "Don't get off track. This is probably our biggest job, you can't blow it." she reached up to her ear and shut the earpiece off, tired of her boss's whiney voice. "so, what do you do in your free time, when you're not having a party?"

“Well, I like music, so often I’ll sing under my breath— my father doesn’t like it when I sing, however.” He laughed quietly, pausing a moment before clearing his throat. “I also read. Now, Miss Sarah Holde, tell me what your favorite pastimes are.”

"I love art." Alina says, being truthful. Even when not undercover, she'd find places to sit and draw when she wasn't training. "And... I've bee training myself to use self defense. That's why my friend can't come back, we were caught snooping in my father's room, where he keeps a lot of swords and daggers."

Brook nodded. “I see. Art and self-defense—magnificent pastimes, if I do say so myself.” He paused. “Did that sound sarcastic? That wasn’t supposed to sound sarcastic. Sorry.” He cleared his throat. “Exactly how trained in self-defense are you?”
