Emma readily gave her a high-five. Then she turned and said, "You guys owe us." She turned to Alina and said, "What's good payment for a loving relationship?"

"i don't know... hm..." Alina says thoughtfully. Blaze glares at her, daring her to say something.

"How about nothing?" Claire suggested with a raised eyebrow.

Alina peers at Claire, then looks at Emma. "do you think we should let them off the hook just this once?" she asks.

Emma grinned. "Just this once," she repeated.
Claire smiled then said, "Let's get home." -
"can i walk you home?" Blaze asks, not wanting to part with her just yet.

"Of course," Claire grinned. She took his hand and led him down to the sidewalk, going home.

Blaze's heart raced when she grabbed his hand. he smiles again, following her.

"So um..." Claire wasn't sure how to phrase her question. "What exactly are we now?"

Blaze looked at her in surprise. "uh... well, will you be my girlfriend...?" he asks her, the smile melting from his face, waiting for a response.

Claire smiled. "Of course, you silly," she said. She was glad to hear from him that they weren't something less like just "figuring out if it would work," because she knew this would work. Or something even worse, "friends with benefits." With a smile she unclasped her hand from his and ruffled up his hair. Then wrapped her arm around his torso so they were walking hip to hip, very close.

Blaze smiles again. He reached over and put his arm around her shoulder. he was happy too; he didn't want this to turn out like the other relationships. he wanted this one to last.

"I don't think my mom will like this," Claire murmured. "She's spoken very badly of you before. And her mind isn't very easily changed."

"do you have to tell her...?" he asks, his brows furrowing.

"I mean, I should," Claire said. She paused for a moment in thought. "But I won't."
