Hart furrowed his eyes as he watched Holly leave the room, looking, well, not okay. He looked at the people around him. Did no one else notice this? He shook his head briefly and stood up, walking over to where he saw Holly go.
He tried the first door he saw and opened it slowly, his eyes widening slightly as he saw Holly on the ground, sobbing. Of course he was gonna do something! He might tease the crap out of her, but he's not a monster. He knows when something's wrong. Not knowing exactly how to act, he sunk to the ground beside her and brought her into a hug. He also loved hugs. He wouldn't admit that to anyone, but he was a big hugger. -
Holly felt warm arms around her and began to cry even harder knowing that someone, even one person, cared about her. She buried her face in Hart's shirt, holding on to him tightly as if she expected him to disappear.
-
"Hey, hey it's okay, I've sort of, uh, been through this sort of thing before so I know how it feels," he whispered to her as he leaned onto her in the hug. "I can get rid of the party if you need it, I'm sure they'll understand but if nor then they're just a--holes that you don't have to really talk to again if you don't want to."
-
Holly trembled, nodding to show that she had heard him. Had she heard that voice before? It sounded familiar.
"I-I didn't want this," she hiccuped. "I d-didn't want any of this." -
"Hey, it'll be okay.. I'll be right back, I'm gonna go tell them to leave real quick and then I'll be back, okay?"
Hart slowly stood up and made sure Holly was good before leaving the room and trying his best to get everyone's attention by pounding his fist lightly on the table.
Didn't work.
He tried saying something. Didn't work.
He yelled, "HEY GUYS LISTEN THE F UP." did work!
"So obviously, you all don't care enough to even realize something's wrong, which means you shouldn't even have the right to be at this party. Parties are for people you like or people that care about you, right? Now, if you payed attention, you'd know that Holly is having some sort of breakdown because of all the people and it would be amazing if you all could leave so that she could recover. Sorry for the inconvenience, but please go." -
The people there shot Hart dirty looks, but eventually decided that it was time to leave anyway. They muttered things under their breath as they filed out, leaving a trampled mess behind them.
Holly covered her ears, rocking back and forth and breathing in deeply. -
"Welp, that worked," he mumbled to himself before heading back to the room Holly was in. Her mother tried to follow him into the room but he stopped her and went in alone. "You holding up okay? I got rid of them all, you can breathe better now. But take your time to recover, if you force it, it can make things worse."
-
Holly nodded, slowly taking her hands off of her ears. "It's much quieter now. Did they leave?"
-
"Yeah, yeah they left," he told her.
-
Holly began to calm down, the panic being replaced with exhaustion. "Thank you," she murmured.
-
"No problem. Do you want the lights on or do you want to stay in the dark?"
-
"It's nice in the dark," Holly said, leaning her head against the wall with a sigh. She didn't have the words to thank him, so she just squeezed his hand, hoping he understood.
-
Hart nodded and squeezed Holly's hand back. "Alright, the dark it is. Tell me if you need anything."
-
Holly nodded, curling up into a ball and keeping her eyes closed. She was so worn out.
-
Hart kept quiet, and check his phone. 11:45pm, it said. Had it really been that long? Wow. "It's uh, It's almost midnight, so they're gonna tell you your soulmate soon... you can wait till morning to find out though, it doesn't really matter."
