Ravius held on before pulling them up onto the gargoyle with great difficulty. He had never considered that possibility before, but a stroke of luck had saved them. -
As soon as she was able, Wren stumbled as far away from Ravius as she could.
Which was basically to the wall of the building, probably a max of seven feet between her and her kidnapper. -

Ravius rubbed his temples. Had he done it? Would the thoughts and the terrible grief finally stop? His head seemed to be clearing a little. He looked at his hands. They were trembling.

Wren's figure was shaking. She tried to calm herself down to find a way off the ledge they were on, either back to the top of the building or a safe way down.

Ravius's heart was filled with a raw, aching agony. None of this would ever fix what happened in the past. His eyes stung with tears. Harriet was gone forever.

Wren wasn't sure what to do when she saw Ravius start tearing up. On the one hand, she was furious at him, and for good reason. But she knew if she lashed out at him he would probably do something bad.

Ravius thought carefully of what to do next, the wind almost blowing them off of the gargoyle. He could release Wren, yes, but she would have him captured and imprisoned. He still needed to find Jack, his son.
He took a deep breath. "We're going to go on a little journey." -
"I'm not going anywhere with you," Wren said with a glare in his direction.

"You don't have a choice," Ravius snapped. "There's something important that I must do. After that, I may consider releasing you."

"You said you would let me go if I lived," Wren said. "This was not part of the deal."

"I never said when," Ravius retorted unfairly. "You living was a stroke of luck."

"So why do you still insist on keeping me with you?!" Wren said loudly. "You got what you wanted, noe let me go!"

Ravius's eyes flashed furiously. "The purpose of you being here has not been completed and you are going nowhere until then!"
