Thread Topic: Discovery Corps
-
The Discovery Corps exists as a separate branch of the hunting agency. It exists to regulate the main branch and aims to further understand supernatural life and, ultimately, integrate it into human society. The primary functions of the Discovery Corps follow:
• the study of supernatural creatures
• the creation of legislation meant to limit the power of the hunting agency
• the negotiation of the rights of supernatural creatures with lawmakers
• the administration of medical aid to supernatural creatures in custody
• the introduction of the supernatural world to humanity
• the enforcement of rules created by the Discovery Corps
• involvement in battle/captures for educational/medical reasons -
"Alright. How do we want to do this?"
-
"Maybe we could split up the applications and pick out the ones we like, and then when we've narrowed it down, we could all review the ones that are left together."
-
"But that means that you could get the application of someone I'm really interested in and pass on it. There has to be some way for everyone to see every application."
-
He sighs heavily.
"Alright, we'll go over them one by one. This is going to take some time. Everyone get comfortable." -
"Oooh, can we order pizza?"
-
"It's a strong maybe."
He sets down the pile of paper applications and picks the top one up, reading it aloud.
"First up we've got Andrea Sutton. She's 38 years old, been in the hunting agency since she was 22. She has... a lot of kills to her name. Wow." -
She looks confused.
"Why does she want to join the Discovery Corps then?" -
"Hm.." he scans the sheet for the section dedicated to explaining why one wanted to be a part of the Discovery Corps. There were so many questions on this form, it took him a solid minute to find. "Oh. Wow, ha. Her daughter married a demon and they've had a child. She wants to join because now she has a demonic grandchild."
-
"Sounds like a good enough reason to me!" he says. "Ain't nothing like the love of a child to change a heart."
-
"Oddly profound, Morgan. I agree. If we turn her down, she could end up mistreating the child out of sheer ignorance. We owe it to that child to educate the woman."
-
She sits quietly, saying nothing.
-
"....Cheza? Any input?"
-
She straightens up in her seat when he addresses her directly.
"Well.. no, I guess not. I personally don't think we owe it to this woman to help her atone for what she's done or to teach her how to not abuse a child. Those are things she should do on her own. But I understand that Morgan has a few kids, and this is probably really important to him. So I'm keeping out of it. Make this call without me." -
He nods, and stares down at the sheet, appearing to think it over.
"I see where you're coming from, Cheza, but I don't think I'd feel right turning her down. If the Discovery Corps rejects her, she'll have to continue on with the main branch, and that could do a lot of damage to the grandchild. Besides, what if she brings the kid to work with her sometime? Don't you wanna meet a baby demon? I bet they're adorable."
