Bliss handed a book to Sgrios and sat down on the couch.

Sgrios flicked through the book, frowning a little in mild confusion "what language is this?" He asked after a moment

“I think its from when magic was first made.” She said. Bliss tried thinking of how long it was when the book was made.

"Well thats bulls---, because its not a language i know, so its at the very least written in a more recent language" he said, closing the book with a quiet snap

“I think someone translated it, but someone already checked it out of the library.” She said, taking the books and putting it on the shelves.

Sgrios made an annoyed sound, his tail twitching. "Well, what do you know about the basics." He asked

“You usually rhyme to make a spell.” Bliss mumbled. She didn’t know much about magic.

Sgrios stared at her "....no?" He said slowly, clearly very confused as he tilted his head

“Thats what the old witches said.” Bliss grumbled, remembering her visit to the witches retirement home.

Sgrios sighed and rubbed his face, drqgging his claws through the fur on his ears. "Spells are all about intent. You dont even need to make any sound while casting them, its just easier for most to keep their intent in mind if they are talking about it. But it isnt required. For example, my specific branch of magic, called Storm Singing, is usually cast via humming or singing wordless notes" he explained

“I highly doubt I could do a spell in my head, that would take concentration I most certainly do not have.” Bliss protested.

Sgrios huffed softly "i never said you had to." He rumbled, his tail twitching a little. "But that doesn't matter if you dont have a Focus. I dont need one, because i am my own Focus. Humans however need one. If i remember right most humans use wands or staffs, though some use other things like amulets or weapons

“I know a few witches that just say something and magic comes out of their fingers.” She said.

"They likely still have a focus, probably some sort of jewlery. Humans can cast magic without focus, but is much more difficult" he said before tilting his head "casting magic without a focus is like trying to empty a lake with your hands. You can do it, but it would be easier with a bucket.
