Callyn made a confused face then raised her eyebrows. "Okay then, she said, walking in after him.
-
“Hello dad.” Turner said. He took a glance at his dad and immediately looked back down.
-
"You're late," his dad said. He looked at Callyn. "And who's she?"
-
Turner sighed and looked up with a determined look on his face. He put an arm around Callyn. “She is my girlfriend.” He said.
-
"WHAT?! he bellowed.
-
Turner rolled his eyes. “You said you wanted me to get a girlfriend, so here she is.” Turner said, pointing at Callyn.
-
"I wanted you to have Cameron Levi as your girlfriend!" he said. He sneered at Callyn. "What'd you do, pick her up off the streets?"
-
Turner coughed nervously. “Not exactly.” He said.
-
He approached Callyn. "You're not worthy to have my son," he said. He turned to Turner. "You will break up with her and date Cameron. I never want to see this girl's face in this house again."
-
“Wait, dad! How about you hear her play piano and sing?! Maybe she would be worthy enough for you then?” Turner exclaimed. He immediately clamped his mouth shut, he had never called his dad, dad ever since his mother died.
-
Callyn swallowed. If his dad was meaning to be intimidating towards her, he sure was succeeding.
Turner's father glared at him. "Cameron can play and sing too. I want this girl out of the house now." -
Turner snapped. He had never felt so angry about his dad until now. Pretending to turn around and give up, Turner quickly whipped back around and did something he never thought he would do. He slapped his father.
-
(You know you can play the dad too)
Callyn just stared. "Turner," she said quietly, "I don't want to cause trouble. Can - can you just take me home please?" -
“No, my dad needs to learn to accept you.” Turner said with a snarl.
“Accept her?! Not a chance!” His dad exclaimed with a laugh. -
Callyn left the room. She could never handle watching people fight. Especially since she was always the cause of those fights.
She found a room with a piano. She looked at it fondly and considered playing it, but she didn't want to make the argument worse by seeming like she was trying to prove Turner's point.
But she needed to play it. It was one of the few ways she was able to express her emotions.
She sat down and started playing. The first song that came out was Tempest. The way she played it you could heal the waves crashing against the side of the ship, the shipmate's terror as they tried to keep everything under control, and a few moments where it seemed like everything was about to be okay, when they were plunged into worse.
