Someone threw a grenade at the warrior his gaze was fixed on, and he had to intervene. He dived in to shield her from the blast.
Shrapnel found its way into Krynfir's body, and it hurt like hell. He winced and tried to stand up. Blood pooled from his arm. The blood loss was getting to his head, making him dizzy. He lost his balance and fell. -
Yuri’s eyes widened. What in the Heavens? This random soldier saved her. She glanced around and noticed she was the only soldier standing on her side. She picked up the boy who had shielded her and ran in a random direction.
-
Coughing blood, Krynfir was too weak to escape. He only then noticed that this soldier was an angel. Great, he thought. I'll die because I saved a soldier from the ENEMY SIDE.
Red droplets of blood splattered on the battlefield. Krynfir could barely open his eyes. -
“You’ll be okay.” Yuri said, trying to stop the blood while she ran. “I have no clue why you would save me, but thank you.” She said, panting as she grew tired from running.
-
Krynfir had already passed out from the blood loss. His hair was matted with blood already. Unconsciously, he moved his hand a little bit, as if he were trying to regain his senses.
-
Yuri sighed with relief when she reached base. It seems like the captain hadn’t made it back yet. She put Krynfir in a bed and started tending to his wounds.
-
Krynfir's blood loss really got to his head (in the literal way) and he slept for maybe about three days.
Finally, he woke up. "Where am I?" Krynfir saw Yuri and glared at her. Even while he was in bed, he tried to kill her, because obviously she was the enemy. -
Yuri yelped as she backed away from Krynfir. “What are you doing?!” She shrieked as she looked around for a weapon.
-
"You're… an angel." He gasped for air. "What... am I doing here?" He took a blade and pointed it at her throat. "Tell me."
-
Yuri’s eyes widened. “I was tending to your wounds, you got hurt really badly when you shielded me.” She said as she narrowed her eyes. “It’s not like its my fault you took the hit.” She said as she looked for a way to get away.
-
Krynfir withdrew the blade. "Fine. I understand what happened now." He then opened the door and walked out of the room calmly.
-
Yuri was confused. What was he doing. He was sure to get hurt. He hadn’t fully healed yet.
She ran outside to where Krynfir was and grabbed his arm. “You haven’t healed yet.” She said sternly as she tried dragging him back towards the hut he had been in. -
"I have to go now," Krynfir said sharply. "My family needs me, and it’s a long way home." He felt a pang of homesickness. A fresh stab of pain entered his leg, and he stumbled.
-
Yuri sighed in frustration as she helped Krynfir up. “I want to go home as well, but it’s a long journey, and I have to fight for the kingdom.” She said.
“If you do want to go home, I would have to accompany you.” She mumbled. -
"I’m going home. And you're going anywhere you want to go, but not with me." His voice was taking on a sharp edge.
