Yuri had thought about going into war. What was the worst that could happen? She had been informed by a guard that one of her family members had to go to the war, or else they would be executed. She walked towards the sign up sheet and wrote her name down.

Yuri knew that she would have to sneak out of the house to get to the war zone, she just didn’t know how. She sucked in a breath as she walked into her house. -

After a few weeks, Krynfir knew he would get called to the front lines sooner or later. The military commander was getting desperate and calling in people closer and closer to his age. Was he looking forward to being on the front lines? No, not really. But he would do what he had to to protect his nation. -

Yuri had decided to leave early, if she did then maybe she wouldn’t be at the front. She knew that her parents would kill her, but she had no choice. Perhaps she would come home alive. -
Krynfir was in the middle. He liked to think of their formation as a sandwich—his squadron was the meat and tomatoes. He wasn’t excited about war. He had never considered it to be pleasant.

She packed her things and walked out, getting the horses from the stables and started riding towards the place she was told to be at for the war.

Krynfir grew uneasy as the battle raged on. I have no business being here, he thought as an arrow whizzed past his ear. At last, he was told to get up there and start fighting.

Krynfir wanted to fight for his nation, but he didn’t know if he was up to it. However, there was a soldier. A girl, by the looks of it. There were few girls in the demon military, seeing as a) not many girls could do fifty push-ups and b) they were needed to reproduce and keep the population stable. She looked brave, holding her own amongst the many people who had died. -

Yuri looked at the dead bodies and bit her lip. Yes, she was scared, but she also was taught to be brave. She continued shooting arrows and prayed that backup would come.
