Sharpsight didn’t answer and pretended nobody was there. It took her just a second to realize that the door would be unlocked if the room were vacant. If the intruder really wanted to get in, they would have to call the hotel staff. So Sharpsight made a quick choice and jumped out the window.

Gloria heard multiple screams. She ran over to the window and gave a shocked yell as she saw SharpSight falling. She hurried over the the elevator and pushed the button to go down. Seconds went by as her anxiety grew. She gave a relieved sigh when the elevator finally went to the lobby.

Sharpsight was long gone when Gloria had reached the lobby. She had torn across two alleyways and ducked into a coffee shop.

Gloria sighed. She had planned to ask SharpSight if she wanted to stay with her. She started walking back towards her apartment.

Sharpsight was thankful that was over with. She walked out of the shop and sat down on a crate in an alleyway.

Gloria came upon the alleyway SharpSight was at, and immediately grabbed SharpSights arm.

Sharpsight turned immediately. "What do you want?" Sharpsight asked hostilely. "What are you here for?"

“Well, I was going to invite you over to my apartment, but if you don’t want to, fine.” She said as she narrowed her eyes.

"In that case, you didn’t have to grab me by my arm, but I’ll come." Sharpsight's eyes pierced through Gloria as if she was trying to see something more, something deeper than her skin and hair.

“I grabbed your arm because I was afraid you would run.” She said as she led SharpSight towards her apartment. She went up the elevator and unlocked the room. “Make yourself at home.” She said with a warm smile.

"Thank you," Sharpsight said. At least that part was sincere—Thank you for giving me a temporary home. "I am afraid I can’t stay long," Sharpsight said apologetically, "but thank you."

Gloria gave SharpSight a weak smile. “Stay as long as you need.” She said. “Also, I never caught your name. What was it?” She asked.

"Brianna," Sharpsight lied, smiling. "And thank you for the offer."

“No problem!” Gloria said in a bright, cheerful voice. “My names Gloria.” She said, sticking her hand out.

Sharpsight shook her hand. "Gloria is a very pretty name," she complimented her.
