Jax blushed and returned the favor. He then pulled away, gasping for air.

Jax tried to break the ice more. "Well, I might have to get going soon. I think my mom wants me."

"Ok!" she said. Flurry already protesting by sitting on Jax's foot

"Aw, Flurry, you're so cute," Jax said wistfully, "but I really do have to go."

Jax waved goodbye and walked back home. He did wish he could have stayed longer. He opened the door to his house and said, "So, what's up, Mom?" -
She walked home

"Jax, today your great-uncle died," his mother said sorrowfully. "Oh." Jax didn’t know he had had a great-uncle in the first place, and he didn’t remember talking to one. Ever.
