"Nope," he said. He sighed and gave her a smile. "What did I ever do to deserve a girl like you?"

“You lived.” She said, planting a kiss on his head.

"We should probably get back to training," he chuckled.

“True.” Jewel said with a laugh. She got back into position once more.

"No, we're going to do something different," Adrian said. "You're defending yourself this time."

“How exactly?” She asked, trying to figure out what position to go into.

"Try to figure it out, and then if we need to fix anything we will," he said. "But you'll want to have your weight distributed as evenly as possible and a stable footing."

Jewel nodded her head and got into a somewhat defensive position.

Adrian went at her. Nothing major, just something to get her on her toes.

Jewel quickly shielded her face from any attack that might occur.

Adrian stopped in his tracks. "You don't - You're supposed to defend yourself not cower behind your hands."

“I’m not cowering. I’m protecting the place that hurts the most.” Jewel said.

"Okay," Adrian sighed. "We need to work on this."
They spent nearly the entire afternoon training. They both exited bruised, Jewel more so than Adrian. -
“Never again will we do this.” Jewel groaned.

"Yes we will," Adrian said. "But we won't be doing it tomorrow."
