He froze, realizing somebody else was there with him. "Who are you...?" He asked, lowering his voice down to a whisper.
-
"Tessa," she said. She suddenly realized where she was and why nothing looked familiar. She was in the King's land. "I shouldn't be here," she said.
-
"Why not?" He asked skeptically, before pausing; "My name's Chris. Prince Chris."
-
Tessa stared wide-eyed. The Prince? He could surely have her for being in here. "These are the King's lands, I have to go," she said. She started to stand up.
-
He was tired, therefore h didn't know what to say for a response. "Do you want some fruit?" He suddenly asked. "I have spare in my bag I've brought."
-
"No, please, I have to go, I shouldn't be here," and she started speed-walking away.
-
Tired, he looked down once again to his side, before deciding he was thankful to Tessa, the mysterious traveller.
-
Tessa was scared. She was in the King's forests. She had crossed the border without realizing it, and could be caught by any of the foresters at any time. (I think foresters were the ones who patrolled the forests looking for trespassers or poachers, I can't remember). She hadn't realized how far deep into the forest she had run.
A couple minutes later, two masculine figures appeared from behind some brush. Foresters. "What you doing out here? This is the King's land, you know." -
He made an effort to stand up, and, thankfully, he had succeeded.
With the pain throbbing at his side, his expression constantly changed from determination to pain, in a repeated pattern.
"C'mon, Chris," He urged himself. "You can do this..." -
"The Prince is back there a ways, wounded," Tessa told them. "What –" they looked like they were about to clobber her, thinking she had done something to him.
"He was attacked by a bear," Tessa said. "I bandaged him up, but he's really hurt. You should get to him"
The Foresters seemed to calm down and chuckle a little. "And how do we know you're telling the truth?" one of them asked with a sneer, getting up in her face. "You're just trying to get away. I won't have any excuses," he said.
They both grabbed her. Tessa screamed and squirmed, trying to get out of their grasp. -
He heard the sound of a scream nearby. He immediately jolted up. Despite the nagging pain seeming to pin him, he rushed towards the sound. If it was a citizen, then he had to save them. If somebody else... He honestly didn't care who it was.
-
(Nobility didn't really care at all for their citizens. But obviously he'd care if she lived or died, because she saved his life)
"Let me go!" Tessa cried. Her hair was getting in her face, but she didn't care as much about seeing than she did getting away. -
Suddenly, he spotted two of his guards seeming to strangle the mysterious traveller who had saved his life. "Stop it! I command you to yield!" He shouted at his guards in a demand.
-
They both turned their heads to where the voice had come from. "Your Highness!" the said. The dropped the girl as they bowed.
Tessa fell to the forest floor, out of breath. She moved her hair out of her face and sat up. It was the man from before. He was walking!
"Your Highness, this woman has broken the law," One of them said. "She has trespassed into the Royal Forest, which is clearly forbidden by law." -
"Let her pass," He spoke. "She had saved my life from a great grizzly." Chris then paused. "Send bread with her, too. She seems hungry."
