Chris got off of the werewolf's carcass, wiping his lips. He turned to face the girl, hissing like a snake.
-
"I'm full of surprises," Chris tightened a fist.
-
"I'm sure you are," Tessa said. She thought for a moment. "I'm willing to make an alliance between us."
-
"Why would I align with you?" Chris spat.
-
"Aren't you tired of being put down like I did when I first met you?" Tessa said. "You'd be looked at with more respect than most half-breeds ever dream of achieving."
-
"Tempting," Chris bobbed his head side to side. "But there are things more important to me than fame."

-
"Like I would tell you," Chris hissed. "I'll give you a hint, though. It was important to my father. He passed it to me."
-
Chris chuckled. It would take her forever to decipher the hint. Maybe she would leave him alone until she did.
-
"I could help you with whatever it, is" Tessa said.
-
"I doubt it," Chris chuckled. "It's not something you would understand."
-
'Would she, though?' a nagging voice whispered in the back of Chris' head.
'No.' Chris answered it. 'She's a full vampire. She can't understand that kind of thing.'
'She could,' the voice kept on. 'She could even be-'
Chris disrupted the thought. He didn't want to think about that. -
"I've heard that many times before," Tessa said, "and most of the time have proved them wrong."
-
"Try to guess," Chris said. "Guess work amuses me. Think on the hint."
