Azale shifted a little and then he lowered his head in a nod, his mouth closing with a quiet click

"that's better, yer smarter that the other circus beasts I handle, there's somethin' different about you." Griffin said watching Azale

Azale watched him right back, his eyes glowing faintly as he stared

"I think you know more than they do." Griffin said . Griffin held out the lamp oil to see if Azale would grab it themself

Azale made a low humming sound, and then reached out with his tail and grabbed the oil, bringing it to his hands

"that's good, now I can tell, there's definitely something different about you." Griffin said.

Azale rumbled quietly at him before tipping his head back and unhinging his jaw, eating the jar of oil. Flames flickered between his sharp teeth like tongues as he turned back to look at him

"have they not been feeding you?" Griffin asked concerned.

Azale jerked his head in a short shake to indicate no.

"that's horrible! If they want to force you to participate in the circus they should at least feed you!" Griffin shouted

Azale flinched with a hiss, shaking his head like he was dizzy

"they're not forcing you to be in the circus?" Griffin asked.

Azale paused and then moved his hand in a distinct 'so so' gesture

"then how'd you get here?" Griffin asked as his wings unconsciously twitched
