Pyropaw gathered a bunch and lifted it up. "Ready to go?" She asked in a muffled voice when she saw Skypaw had gathered some.
-
Skypaw nodded, bounding over the Twoleg's fence and running off.
-
Pyropaw ran after her until they reached camp. "OK, let's take this to Juniperberry."
-
Skypaw set down his bundle in the medicine cat's den. "Uh, Pyropaw? I have something I need to tell you."
-
"What?" She asked.
-
"I got a sign," Skypaw said with a sig. "A bubble burst on my nose, right in front of Bubbleburst. But you're already the medicine cat's apprentice. That's what they're talking about."
-
"Well maybe Juniperberry could have two apprentices." Pyropaw suggested.
-
"No one can have two apprentices at the same time, right?" Skypaw said. Bubbleburst entered the medicine cat's den.
"It has been decided," she said grimly. -
"If I have to be a warrior apprentice, I'm going rogue." Pyropaw muttered under her breath. "What is it, then?" She asked Bubbleburst louder.
-
"Pyropaw will be Juniperberry's apprentice," Bubbleburst began. Skypaw looked crestfallen until she continued. "And Skypaw will be mine. There is no reason for there not to be two medicine cat apprentices if they have different mentors."
-
"Ok!" Pyropaw mewed excitedly. "So we can do stuff together?" She asked, nodding to Skypaw.
-
"Yes, of course," Bubbleburst said warmly. "He'll be a little behind on his medicine cat's training, but that can be fixed."
Skypaw turned delightedly to look at Pyropaw. They could be friends instead of rivals now! -
"Being with you is fun," Bluepaw blushed slightly.
-
"I like being with you too," Reedpaw said with a purr. "Maybe we could see each other more often?"
-
Sharkpaw started to fall asleep and smiled softly when Owlpaw curled up next to him. Skypaw watched the two with a small pang of longing, but smiled. He had moved on. -
"I'd like that," She purred, before getting up on dry land and shaking out her fur.
-----
Lilacpaw sighed. "I love you sis," She meowed in a feminine voice before she padded away softly.
