"Yeah," Terri admitted. "I came from a broken home. My dad was never around, my mom was a drug addict, and my siblings did bad things. I did some things then that I'm not proud of."

Melissa has a shocked look on her face. “That’s awful...” She says.

"It's fine," Terri said, with a dismissive wave. "I have a new family now. They treat me better."

Melissa smiles. “That’s good!” Melissa thinks for a moment. “I only have my cat at this point, and his name is Zane. You should come over some time and you can meet him!”

"Aw, he sounds awesome!" Terri said happily, rubbing the pigeon's chin. "I have no idea what I'm going to do with this crazy little bird." -

Melissa looks at the bird. “Maybe you can take it to your house. My cat likes to chase birds, so my house isn’t a good idea.” Melissa pauses. “Unless it’s a wild bird. Then it might prefer to stay here.” -
"I think it's a wild bird, but it acts odd," Terri said, as the shipping bird perched on her shoulder.

Melissa nods. “I’ve never seen a bird act like this. Usually birds are scared of humans.”

"I know, but this one isn't scared at all," Terri said with a smile. The shipping bird hopped onto Melissa's lap, cooing softly.

Melissa walks up to the bird and slowly pets it. “It’s so cute!”

"I think he likes you," Terri said as it tilted its head for more pets. -

“I think so!” Melissa smiles as she continues to pet the bird’s head. -

"Ouch!" Terri exclaimed as a big piece of bark fell onto her head. "Do you want to get out of this tree?"
