I have no idea how to start, but okie then))
Elizabeth ducked into a cave, breathing shortly. The children had gone savage, killing each other and trying to beat everyone else. She had barely gotten away with her life. She made vines grow over the cave and took deep breaths, even as chaos still reigned outside. -
Annie sat in the rocking chair on the porch of the modest house she'd made for herself. Gently swaying in the chair, she sipped a cup of tea whose flavor she couldn't place. It tasted like a fruit tea of some kind, but it was no fruit she'd ever known. Was she forgetting what fruit tasted like, or creating new flavors for the fun of it? At this point, it was hard to tell, and she chose not to dwell on the subject.
The sun was obstructed by gray clouds that threatened to pour rain down at any moment. She knew it was an idle threat- the downpour would come only when she was good and ready, and she'd be warm and safe in her house, cuddled up in a big blanket with a book when it did.
She could hear the sounds of conflict, brought to her on the wind, but tried to drown them out by humming to herself. It wasn't her business. -
Sora was frantic. What happened to everyone? She intended to find out but decided she should stay away for now.
-
Elizabeth reached into a nook, feeling around. There were a few biscuits and an apple in it, and she quickly pulled them out. Scarfing down the meager portion, she headed outside to find her home base.
-
Finishing her tea, Annie set the cup down on the little table on her porch. She stood up and stretched, slowly, blissfully, and stepped barefoot into the lush yard. She padded over to the edge of it, where the grass stopped and hazed into oblivion. She could make it stretch on forever, but she worried that if she went too far, she'd encounter another brawl. She'd seen people torn apart in the most brutal ways imaginable, and she wasn't exactly eager to see it again.
Still, curiosity nipped at the back of her mind when she noticed a cavern off in the distance. It hadn't been there a few hours before- someone must have just created it. She worried briefly about what kind of person it would be, so close to her home, but a cavern was shelter, and the warlords of this landscape had no need for shelter.
She contemplated going and checking it out for a moment, but decided to hang back and observe for now. She turned back to the house, walking in and locking the door behind her. There was no reason to- anyone could tear the door down with little effort. But it reminded her of the sense of safety that had washed over her when she locked her bedroom door and hid under the covers as the battles between her parents raged on, and she clung to every ounce of security she could find in this place. The rain came down over her house as she settled in on the couch and created a thick, soft blanket to curl up in. -
Elizabeth saw a quaint little house not far away. She eyed it with a sense of unease. Who had created it? Surely, someone so far away from the battles wouldn't take part in them, would they? She had a strong temptation to knock, but decided against it. She made herself a small little hut with a warm fire, and began to toast some bread.

Annie sighed as she shut another book, disappointed. She hadn't tried to read yet in this world, and upon opening the book, had found the pages blank. She had tried to remember the words to some of her favorite books, and when that had failed, the basic story lines, but even that memory was failing her now. The words had appeared on the pages as she recalled them, but they were all wrong, and she had given up.
As she placed the book carefully back on the shelf, she passed by a window. She peeked through the blinds, looking over the cavern that had appeared a little way off. A hut had been created near it, now, and she thought she saw a small form moving around it. A very small form. Was that... a small child?
Without further thought, she ran to the door, unlocked it with a sense of urgency, and out she went. She raced across her yard, forgetting to stop the rain and not particularly caring as it drenched her clothes. The grass grew out of nothing as she sprinted across the border of her lawn, and it made a path directly to the cave. -
Elizabeth was crunching on a piece of toast, when she someone running to her. A pretty big someone, compared to her at least. She felt a scream building up in her throat. Was she going to die?
She clamped her mouth shut and wrapped the hut up with thick vines, hiding under a blanket and trembling from head to toe. -
Annie slowed her pace a bit as the little hut she'd been running toward encased itself in vines. She'd forgotten entirely what it must have looked like from the kid's point of view, and she walked softly the rest of the way.
Stopping just outside what had been the mouth of the hut a moment ago, she crouched down and spoke as gently as she could, hoping she could be heard through the greenery.
"Hello? Are you okay in there?" she called. -
Still joinable?)
