(That's actually a teacher I know. He doesn't teach at my school, but he's a nice guy.)
Jenna waited for five minutes, but didn't get a reply. Then she realized that she had forgotten to plug in her computer so that it could charge. Suddenly there was a loud beeping noise, and she jerked. It was the alarm clock. After finally figuring out how to turn it off, she stood in the middle of the room at a loss of what to do. She walked over to the dresser to figure out what to wear. She threw on a t-shirt and some shorts. Then she put on some sneakers.
She stood up straight, after tying her shoe. She needed to put up an act on why she was acting so strangely. She sagged her shoulders, and made her face look tired, and sort of fogged/glazed over, as if she wasn't entirely there that day. It worked on her parents, who were never easily fooled, but she was always able to fool them easily. Then she slowly walked down the stairs for breakfast. -
She began to pack her backpack, wondering how Jenna usually packed it when she realized that she was early. She began inspecting Jenna's room.
She knew it was wrong, but she needed to know more about her...self. She found a journal but decided not to open it. That was TOO private. -
Jenna slowly descended the stairs, putting enough time in between steps to make herself believable. She held her head to one side as she walked into the kitchen where Anniyah's parents were.
Anniyah's parents looked at her when she came in. "You look tired," the dad said.
"Are you sure you're alright?" the mom said.
"emmmmmmmyeah," Jenna muttered, raising her head only slightly. "I just didn't sleep very well last night. I didn't sleep at all, actually." -
Anniyah finally found the fish. She fed it, watching it bemusedly as it swirled around in its glass bowl. She decided to name it Glubert.
-
Jenna knew they'd fall for it. Her parents were never easily fooled by anything, and she easily did it every time. She grabbed a cereal box, and poured some into it. Then she put the milk in.
"You're eating a lot this morning," her mom said. "Are you sure you're ok?"
Jenna slowly looked down. That was how much she normally ate. But she merely shrugged. v -
Anniyah decided to head off to school. Then she realized she didn't know where that was.
"Mom? I want to walk to school today, could you give me the route?"
Jenna's mom peered at her curiously. "Um, okay sweetie." -
Jenna took her bowl to the kitchen table and started eating slowly enough so that she still looked like she was out of it, but fast enough that she didn't have soggy cereal. When she finished, she packed up her backpack, and swung it on her back.
"Uh mom?" she said when she realized that she had no idea where school was. "I kinda want to walk to school today, but," She put her hand on her forehead, "I don't quite remember the way."
"Understandable," the dad said. then he gave her directions. -
"Thanks," she said, taking the map. "Goodbye!"
She rushed out of the house, Jenna's backpack slung over one of her shoulders, and ran for it. She'd have to be fast to beat the bus. -
Jenna nodded, commiting them to memory. She left the house, and started walking quickly. On the way there, she wondered how today was going to go. She had been given names, but not appearance or attitude. She didn't even know how she was supposed to act. And were there any inside jokes? She didn't know. That's why she would just act like her brain was muggy the entire day, and thatwould be her excuse.
-
(Appearance? XD)
Anniyah felt incredibly nervous. She had no idea which friend was which. She put a hot pack on her forehead to warm it up, so she could pretend she was feverish. -
(What? She doesn't know what Anniyah's friends look like.)
She walked into the school, and saw another girl waving her over. She groggily went in that general direction.
"You don't look so good," the friend said, and started walking.
"I'm fine," Jenna said, and then she accidentally-on-purpose stumbled.
"I don't think so," the friend said. "You should see the nurse." -
(I thought you were talking about Anniyah's appearance, oof)
"Hey, Jenna!" a girl said. "You good?"
"A little feverish," she said, mimicking Jenna's tone. "But I'm fine."
"Okay," the friend said, looking at Anniyah disbelievingly. -
(Oh)
Suddenly Jenna's arm was being pulled the other direction. She made a dramatic movement of her arms and legs, and followed thee pull. The friend was going the other direction.
"We're going the wrong way," Jenna mumbled
"No, we're not," the friend said. "We're going to see the nurse."
What in the world? Jenna thought. Does Anniyah have to deal with this every day? -
Anniyah sighed. Thank God this girl was leaving her alone. She needed to adjust, and she needed space.
She walked into class, feeling relieved. -
Jenna was led to the nurses office. While she was doing, that, though, she was memorizing the routes, and where classrooms were. They went inside the nurse's office, and the nurse looked at them when they came in.
"What's wrong, dears?" the nurse asked.
"Anniyah's not right," the friend asked.
"Well, sit here, Anniyah, and Risa, tell Anniyah's teacher that she'll not be in class today," the nurse said.
"Alright," Risa said.
Fist the nurse checked her temperature. "You're running a fever," she said. "You need to go home."
Shoot, Jenna thought, I wasn't meaning to raise my temperature that much. She could raise and lower her body temperature by herself. It had gotten her out of a lot of things she hadn't wanted to do. She had been raising it, once again, so that she'd have an excuse.
