"Gah! Who are you?" Minnowleap said, backing away. The cub puffed out his chest.
"I'm Brave!" the cub announced. "Who are you compressed cougars?" -
Adder snorted. “We’re nowhere near being cougars, unless you count that we’re also cats.” She said, her tail flicking back and forth, amusingly.

"Ohhh," Brave said, realization dawning on his face. "Do you mind if I stay with you guys tonight? I'm in a fix."
Minnowleap turned to the others, wanting their opinions. -
Raytail shook his head, “No way, if that thing’s family comes back, we’re crowfood, or whatever scavenges here anyways.”

"That's the thing," Brave said. "You don't have to worry about that." Minnowleap pondered over the cub's scent. The familiar smell of the mother cougar they had wounded came to her.

“What do you mean, we don’t have to worry?” Adder asked, she already forgot the cold and suspicion was slowly starting to prowl around her mind.

"My mom went somewhere," Brave said. "We waited, and waited, and waited but she didn't come back. Besides, I'm bigger now, she won't mind, I'm sure."
