She can't even sleep through a storm, Gaynor thought, as she looked at the woman's expensive clothes, that weren't very fit for traveling across rough terrain. "I've made some stew," she said, trying her best to seem polite to this murderer, "if you'd like some. It's probably not what you're used to having, but it's something." Of course it isn't what she usually has, Gaynor thought, She usually feasts on blood.
-
Aella nodded and shrugged. "It'll have to do for beggars can't be choosers," She said. She could smell the faint stew and adjusted her clothes. "I do again apologize for the intrusion," The woman continued. She narrowed her eyes, looking around all of the other woman's belongings. Aella walked forward, looking around her home. "What is your name?" She asked. It was blunt and could have sounded rude. Aella wished to have gotten straight to the point. "And how much it is you want for your kind hospitality?" Aella questioned.
-
Gaynor pursed her lips when the woman called her a beggar, but quickly unpursed them. "It's nothing," she said. "I've done this many times, and don't expect payment." She paused for a moment, wondering if she should tell the woman her real name. If the woman talked to other people and mentioned her under a different name, she'd be screwed. "I'm Gaynor. What's your name?" she said, taking out two bowls, ad putting stew in each of them. She handed one of the bowls to the woman, and sat down in one of the chairs by the fireplace.
-
“Deianira,” Aella had said with no hesitation. She gripped the bowl in her hands and followed after the woman. She was slow with sitting down in one of the chairs, the bowl resting in her lap. “Why is it you take in people who come by and ask for help? Aren’t you afraid one of them will hurt you?” Aella asked. She was slow with beginning to eat her stew. Her eyes widen at the taste and it was far better than what her cooks could do. She would be sure to give them a lecture to have them do better. “Oh, and thank you for the stew, it is quite delicious,” Aella said.
-
"Thank you," Gaynor said. "No one's hurt me yet. I'm one of the few that can actually afford to have food, so I make a lot of it and give it to those who have none. I guess they value me too much to hurt me." She'd never really thought about it. She just knew that people needed help, so she gave it. "So what brings you to Deminir?" she asked.
-
Aella relaxed against her seat, her lies slipping easily past her lips. "Just travelling. Trying to meet up with family and enjoy the sights as I go. I have some trinkets and such. Thought to sell some things as I go," Aella said. She cleared her throat and continued to eat the stew. "Deminir is a nice stop on my journey," She mused.
-
Probably off to kill another town, Gaynor thought. "Maybe I could buy one of your trinkets before you leave tomorrow." Shoot. Tomorrow. She had to plan quickly.
-
“Yes,” Aella smiled. “That would be nice, some extra cash before I hit the road. I’ll even give you a trinket for your kind hospitality,” She mused. She continued to eat the meal given to her until the bowl was emptied. Aella leaned back against the chair and let out a long contented sigh. “That was very delicious, thank you,” Aella said.
-
Gaynor nodded. "So where is your family?"
-
“Oh, they’re in quite the rich town,” Aella said. “They live in Tarrin,” She continued. She could recall the warmth of her plush comforters and the comfort of the mattress. Aella missed wearing her pink silk dress to bed. Aella smiled and drummed her fingers on the armrest. “All busy with keeping a good reputation on our name,” She hummed.
-
Gaynor nodded, not quite sure what to do next. "I'll make you a bed," she said, going into her room. She needed to think. Maybe she could come in the night and slit her throat. That would be the easiest way. She wasn't sure.
-
“Oh no,” Aella said, smiling. “I’m not quite tired at all,” She mused. She knew better than to sleep in a stranger’s home. “I’ll like to remain awake, listen to the rain, and simply relax before the morning comes,” She continued on. Aella stretched, relaxing against the chair she sat on, her gaze slowly moving to the woman. “That isn’t a problem is it?” She questioned.
-
"No, it isn't," Gaynor said untruthfully, "but you're traveling tomorrow, and that takes up a lot of energy. I just wanted to make sure you were well rested."
-
"I'll be fine," Aella smiled. "I'm hoping with some of the money I make from selling my trinkets I could get a carriage ride through this town and hopefully the next," She stretched a bit, closing her eyes for a moment, enjoying the rain pattering against the windows.
-
Gaynor nodded. "I'll go to bed then," she said. She walked into her room, and got into her bed. She fell asleep planning out what she was going to do.
