This is the story of a lone naga just surviving in the world and how he brought peace to two races before war could erupt from it and met the love of his life. This naga's name is Avalon and this is his story.
This is a roleplay that I will be doing on my own like Katqueen has done. This will explain to everyone in the roleplay and some that aren't how Avalon found his wife and the drama that came with it.
This might be a short roleplay considering there isn't a lot to tell. But I'll try to make it as long as I can.
Copying the original character sheet because this is a prequel and I'm feeling lazy.
Characters:
Name: Avalon
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Species: Naga
Looks (face and outfit): He has brown hair, yellow reptilian eyes, slightly muscular, he doesn't have legs obviously and instead has a snake tail with scales colored and patterned like a diamond back rattlesnake, he is one of a few nagas with a rattle at the end of their tail. Wears just a gray shirt with shoulder armor and a belt with holsters for his knifes
Personality: Avalon is a nice and friendly kind of guy, never gets into conflicts with anyone and usually tries to find a peaceful solution.
Powers/abilities/skills: Even though he doesn't like to fight, he can squeeze someone with his tail or if that doesn't work he can bite them and inject venom. Lethality depends on your species and how much venom he chooses to release. He also has minor hypnotic powers
Fears/weaknesses: Anything with tough skin he can't inject venom into, his hypnosis is only temporary and only works with those possessing a weak will
Weapon/s (if any): Just a rarely used combat knife
Pet/s (if any): Ironically a pet rat named Toby
Name: Lenore
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Species: Mermaid
Looks (face and outfit): She has long blonde hair that goes down to her waist, purple eyes, freckles on her face, and a bit of an hourglass shaped figure, like Avalon, she has no legs and instead has a tail colored like a clownfish with fins on her hips and at the end of her tail. Wears only a green shirt with the middle cut out to show her midriff.
Personality: Lenore is very flirty, curious, and kind. She can be a bit of a troll at times but never does anything antagonistic
Powers/abilities/skills: Aside from incredible swimming abilities and breathing underwater, she can communicate with sea life and has enhanced senses
Fears/weaknesses: She's afraid of sharks and, until she met Avalon, nagas. This is because, in the ocean, there is an underwater variant of nagas called Sea Nagas. These things are very aggressive, even to members of their own species.
Weapon/s (if any): N/A
Pet/s (if any): N/A
Other: She has about three younger sisters
I'll start this later. And I'll probably draw what the Sea Nagas look like. -
Once in a far away desert lived a naga named Avalon with his mother in a small house. Not much to do but he was happy as he had a good place and someone who loved him. On his thirteenth birthday, his mother sat him down to talk, just as all other nagas have before. His mother informed him that he must leave his home on this day to learn to be a proper naga. She gave him enough water to get out of the desert, some food for the first five months and his father's hunting knife. He hugged and kissed his mom goodbye and set out to find a place to stay.
-
Avalon journeyed out of the desert after about a month and came to a large jungle. He wandered this jungle for five months and hunted a little when his food supply ran out. Eventually ha came across something strange. There was an actual village full of nagas from different places. This was strange as most nagas prefer a solitary life. One older naga noticed him and said "Welcome brother. I can tell from your looks that you must be 13, correct?" Avalon answered "Yeah."
-
The older naga put his arm around Avalon and slithered with him into town. He said "Well, you've come to the right place. This is Nagasia, a village for nagas with no where to go. My name is Padral I'm sort of the leader, but I don't really lead anything. I just help with peoples problems when they need it." Avalon said "But I thought nagas were supposed to be out on their own." Padral said "Yes, but some of them don't really like the idea of roughing it out in the woods or being secluded. Do you relish that?" Avalon thought for a moment and said "Not really. I cried for my mom for weeks when I left. And every time I killed an animal I felt like the bad guy but I have to eat." "We all have to eat son. which is why we fish. And besides, you can put that all behind you now. Join with us and we can be your family. What do you say?" offered Padral.
-
Avalon thought a good long while before he decided what he should do. On one hand, he wanted to prove he was a naga, but on the other hand, he knew from the heart that he was kind of a big softie and didn't really think he could survive on his own. He finally made a decision and said "I accept." Padral hugged him and said "Then welcome home, brother. We'll make you an official member tonight, with a ceremony. For now, head to the house right over there. That's where you'll live until we build you a proper house" He pointed to a relatively large hut in the center of the village. Avalon slithered to the house and an old naga woman was sitting outside the hut. Avalon said "Hi." The woman seemed asleep though so she didn't answer.
-
Avalon shook the old naga awake and she said "Oh hello. Are you the new villager?" Avalon answered "Yes." The woman stood up or the naga equivalent of it and opened the door letting Avalon in. She closed the door behind her and said "Welcome to your new home for the next four to five months. My name is Embla." Avalon looked around the house and it looked like a decent living space and had all that was needed, a kitchen and dining room close together, at least three bedrooms, a living area, and a garden out back. Embla said as Avalon looked around "Now you may live here but that doesn't mean you get to do nothing. I will cook for you, but that doesn't make me your slave. If you wish to live here, you must do chores either with me or for me. That way you will be well prepared for when you to move into your new house and take care of it yourself. Do you understand?" Avalon nodded and Embla said "Good, glad you get it. For now rest up for your welcoming ceremony tonight." Avalon nodded again and left to one of the bedrooms.
-
Once night had fallen, all the villagers sat around a fire in the center of town. Padral brought Avalon to the fire and had him face the crowd. Padral was wearing some sort of headdress that seemed to be only brought out for these occasions and as he looked at the crowd, he said "Brothers and sisters, we are gathered here tonight to welcome a new member into our livelihood. His name is Avalon and like a lot of you, he has gone off on his own to be like the others. However, much like all of us, he didn't wish to go through with all that was set up of him. So he has found us and we will give him great hospitality but only if he can pass the test." Everyone stood up and opened a gap in the crowd. Avalon was starting to worry about what kind of possible test he would have to face.
-
Out of the brush walked a deer. Padral gave Avalon his knife and said "Do what you think needs to be done to that deer. Take your time, but know this. What you do, decides if you stay or if we force you to leave." Avalon looked at the knife and the deer. He slithered slowly to the deer as everyone watched. When he got close, the deer looked at him. He raised his knife and the villagers looked worried, until he actually put his blade back in his holster. He put his hand out and inched closer to the deer. The deer came closer and let him pet it's head. Padral said "He passed." and everyone cheered. The deer left and Padral hugged Avalon. He said "Welcome Brother Avalon. We officially welcome you to Nagasia." Everyone gave him a handshake or hug and a congratulations. They celebrated their newest resident all through the night.
-
The next morning, Avalon was woken up early in the morning by Embla, despite the fact that he had been up most of the night. As such, he repeatedly slithered into walls and supports for the hut on his way to the dining table to eat breakfast. Even the smell of the roasting fish was unable to wake him up. He and Embla eventually had their breakfast and unfortunately for Avalon, they had a big day ahead of them full of chores. First, they had to weed and water the back garden, then Avalon had to clean up the kitchen. Then Avalon had to learn some of the basic fundamentals of house maintenance and fishing and so on. By the end of the day, Avalon was thoroughly tired and before dinner was allowed to do what he wanted. Since he wasn't tired enough to take a nap for whatever reason, he decided to try and fish to make him tired. Taking Embla's fishing pole, he slithered to a nearby river and, not two minutes after casting his line, fell asleep.
-
Within the river was something no one had ever seen before. It was a mermaid, swimming upstream, by herself. Her name was Lenore and she had been traveling around for a while, curious of the river that flowed into her home. She swam up it and saw someone sleeping near the water's edge. Said person was Avalon and Lenore decided to mess with him. She rose slowly out of the water and then splashed a large wave on Avalon. This abruptly woke him up and he started talking in gibberish as Lenore laughed. Avalon saw her and was a little miffed. He said "What the heck? What did you do that for?" Lenore said "You were just sitting there, sound asleep, near a river. You can't expect someone not to do that when you're like that." This explanation didn't make Avalon feel any better. Lenore then stopped fooling around and said "My name is Lenore, what's yours?" "Avalon." he answered as he took off his shirt to wring it out. Lenore said "Nice to meet you."
-
Once Avalon dried his shirt off and said "Nice to meet you too. You don't look like any naga I've seen." Lenore said "I'm not a naga, I'm a mermaid. See?" She pulled herself onto land to show Avalon her tail. Avalon was amazed. He had never seen a mermaid before but had always heard of them. They both started a conversation and talked about their own races until Embla called out to Avalon for dinner. They both said goodbye and went their separate ways.
-
Avalon slithered back to Embla's hut to tell her about his encounter. As soon as he told her, she didn't believe him and just told him he saw another naga. The next morning, he told other people and no one believed him. They all told him it was either a trick, someone pranking him or just his imagination. Eventually, with no one believing him, Avalon became convinced his encounter with Lenore was just a dream.
Lenore made her way back to the ocean and was on her way home. However, along her way, she was ambushed by a female sea naga. Seeing all those sharp teeth and that fearsome look made her almost scared stiff. She soon realized the danger and swam out of the way just as it began to attack. Lenore swam and evaded the sea naga and eventually hid in a small cove. Though the sea naga saw Lenore go in, she was unable to follow her in and gave up after seeing it was futile. Lenore then swam straight home and told her father. He just cuddled his scared and crying daughter and helped her calmed down. The scary encounter made her forget about Avalon -
For the longest time, Avalon worked and lived in Embla's house. What should have been four months took about six due to delays in the building of his house. Once his house was built, he was moved in ASAP but still came to Embla's house if she needed something.
Nothing happened for about two years until, Embla began to get sick. Because she was the oldest naga, everyone was worried about her, but none more than Avalon. The village doctor said that she had a rare disease and only a special plant could cure it. Avalon volunteered to go find it, even though everyone told him not to. However, he still went off stubbornly and everyone wished him good luck as he left. -
Avalon wandered for a while, repeatedly referring to the map he was given. They said that it would take probably a week to get to the location of the plant to find it. As he slithered through the jungle, he had an unnerving feeling he was being watched. He hoped that he wasn't so as not to fight, because he wasn't as equipped as he should be for this trek. He just put the feeling behind him as he continued on.
-
Soon it became dark and he decided to rest so he could keep going. He lit a small fire and started roasting fish. The feeling that he was being watched never left him and, in fact, it seemed to be more unnerving at night. Just then, an arrow came out of the bushes and impaled the fish Avalon was about to eat and pushed it into a tree. Avalon looked and a drow (dark elf) came out and tackled him. He had heard about drow. They absolutely hate nagas and would kill them on sight. Avalon was now in a fight for his life as the drow tried to stab him.
