Farrim bit his bottom lip, desire, love, and lust returning to his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into a kiss.
“Well I haven’t been told either. I’d like to know at least something.” She sighed. “Besides... Whenever I get that spiked familiarity, it’s a rare thing like being embraced in a hug, or the smell of vanilla. Or events like seeing that cheering crowd. If those are the triggers... How could my past be ugly?” She explained. -
Surprise lingered on her features on his lips met hers. Her cheeks warming from his small tocuh. Soon, butterflies filled her stomach and her hand had lifted to rest on his other cheeks. On her toes, she returned the delightful kiss. Her eyes fluttered closed as she enjoyed the bliss.
“We’ll see..” Barin mumbled. Before long, he heard their names being called. “Prince Barin!” Franklin called. “Clarice!” He continued. “Come on, we looked everywhere! We give up, you guys win! Where are you?” Franklin shouted. Baron smiled. “Well, seems we won.” He stood and dusted his pants. Then, he held his hand out to Tiana. “Does winning the game bring back any memories?” He asked. -
“Not really.” She sighed, accepting the hand. Suddenly, a smirk showed she had an idea. “How funny would it be to you if we let Franklin panic a bit and stay up here longer?” She asked with a chuckle.
Farrim continued to kiss her, loving and passionately, pulling away softly. “This won’t get you in trouble too soon will it?” He asked in concern. -
“Rather hilarious princess,” Barin hummed. “We could stay here a bit,” He continued. “Barin! Barin!” Franklin called. “f---ing hell! Clarice! Clarice!” He continued. Franklin paced back and forth, running his fingers through his hair. Father would kill me if I don’t find them The man thought with a frown. Back and forth, he went. “What’s wrong?” Asked a soft voice. The woman before Franklin furrowed her brows and frowned. “Can’t find, Barin or Clarice?” The woman asked. “No, I-I can’t Mrs. Scott,” Franklin replies. “Well, they have to be somewhere, let’s start from the first floor,” Mrs. Scott said, reassuringly.
“We already looked! They’re not there!” Franklin replied with a scoff.
“Relax, Franklin,” Mrs. Scott began. “They’re here, we know that for sure, we just have to keep looking,” She hummed.
“No, not at all,” Ta’ahine said, smile on her lips. “They’re not close,” She continued. “What they don’t know what hurt them,” Ta’ahine finished. Her heart soared in remembrance of the kiss, it felt ever so natural and almost a part of her nature. “But, I have to say, sir, you’re quite the kisser,” Ta’ahine said. -
Tania grinned mischievously before beginning to sing at the top of her lungs, gesturing for Barin to do the same as she locked the attic trap door.
Farrim chuckled and kissed her forehead. “All because the worth of the person I kiss my lady.” He told her with a grin. -
Barin smiled. Singing along with Tiana, between soft laughs. Franklin rolled his eyes at their mockery singing. “Ah, the attic. They’re smart, aren’t they?” Mrs. Scott said with a smirk. She reached for the door knob, opening the old door. Mrs. Scott went up the steps and opened the trap door. “Hello, Barin, and Clarice,” Mrs. Scott hummed. “Been hiding here all along, huh? Well, best get going, you two need to return to the castle,” She said.
Ta’ahine blushed at his words and and giggled softly. “I’m quite glad I’m that worthy,” She hummed. Ta’ahine glanced to her feet, smile on her lips. Butterflies filled her stomach as roses continued to bloom at her feet. The roses growing taller to wrap around her ankles. -
“How dare you interrupt the song.” She huffed. “We’ll just have to start over, and we won’t leave until we finish. So I suppose you’ll all have to just sing with us.” She told them stubbornly with a grin before starting again.
“So Why do you stay at the castle if you don’t like the work?” Farrim then asked curiously. -
Mrs. Scott laughed at her response. “You can sing in the carriage,” She said. “The King wouldn’t quite like that he left the castle with the woman he was supposed to be courting with,” Mrs. Scott said. “Especially, that she’s without her guard,” She continued. Franklin lingered close to the trap door, resting against it. “Sorry I told her, quite panicked about a missing prince and princess,” He said with a shameless smile. “Come along now,” Mrs. Scott said, gesturing to the door. “We’ll sing as loud as we want when we get to the carriage, Tiana,” Barin reassured.
“I love the work, believe me. Growing flowers, making the environment all the more beautiful is what I adore and love,” Ta’ahine said. “I just..I just don’t like everyone so strict, so uptight and not willing to play or have fun. We all need to enjoy ourselves sometimes,” Ta’ahine said. “But, some days we do have fun,” She continued. “Plus, Theodosia would worry if she didn’t see me show up for work,” Ta’ahaine let out a laugh. “She’ll assume the King had finally got tired of me and my shenanigans,” She smiles. “I have people there, I have something to enjoy there. Plus, I had met you at the castle, all the more reason to work there,” Ta’ahine hummed. -
“Oh? So now the children know the truth? They begged to hear a story from the fearsome diva of Terima?” Tania sighed, Terima being the name of her kingdom. “Oh, I don’t know if I’d have the courage to sing in public Barin. I like doing things to frustrate people for my own amusement... I like you, but... don’t take that as consent to marriage... I want to see how much I can irritate my father before I decide.” Tiana told him, accepting the help.
Farrim chuckled. “I’m not that great.” He sighed with a soft smile. “You do a terrific job on that garden, I think even Tania was amazed.” Farrim added with a chuckle. -
She likes me. The thought nearly brought a smile to Barin’s lips. “Princess,” Mrs, Scott began. “The children don’t know the truth. I know the truth, prince or no prince, I care for these children and would like to know of the strangers that come visit my orphanage,” She seemed offended. “The children wouldn’t care if you were Princess Tiana or the stranger who showed up with Prince Barin, they care about you being kind,” The caretaker continued. Barin sighed and began singing. “Prince Barin—“ Franklin began. He rolled his eyes and sighed once more. “Now I have to start over, can’t leave until we finish the song right, Tiana?” He questioned. “And you two have to sing with us,” He added. “The sooner I get you three out of here, the better,” Mrs. Scott mumbled.
“Oh, but, you are Farrim,” Ta’ahine smiled. “You just don’t see it,” She continued. The Dryad was rather amazed at his words, she was quite glad to even impress the princess with her skills. “I’m glad you both like my work,” She smiled. “However...” Her words droned on as she bit her bottom lip. “I heard from the other servants she was cruel and nasty, rather selfish. Is she truly bad as people say or are those just rumors?” Ta’ahine questioned. -
Tiana chuckled and smiled softly. “Oh children!” She called, knowing they’d like to join the mischief.
“Well, as a child she wasn’t. She was mischievous and stubborn but always did things for the betterment of the kingdom. She caused a lot of trouble for the castle staff, sneaking out of the castle to play with the villagers. After the accident where she lost her memory, she was locked up in the castle to learn ‘strength and credibility’ or as some see it cruelty and snobbiness. So, she can be very cruel and sharped tongued if angered. However I think there is some kindness, she’s definitely still mischievous and stubborn, that will never stop. However she’s much more guarded and selfish.” Farrim explained. -
The children peaked from the door. The little light that seeped into the room encouraged them to go but, they knew they weren’t allowed in that room, at least not all of them. “No, don’t come up here!” Mrs. Scott called. “The ceiling would cave in, we’ll all get hurt!” She warned. “Just, sing from where you stand!” Mrs. Scott called. Barin smiled to Tiana and then, began singing softly. The children soon chimed in singing as loudly as they can. Mrs. Scott lowered her head and rubbed her temples at their singing. Franklin merely laughed at her distress.
“I see..” Ta’ahine mumbled. She twiddled her thumbs and looked to the ground. “Makes it all the more harder for the princess to fall in love with Prince Barin,” She said, softly. A Princess who is guarded and selfish to fall in love with a kind Prince, it seemed impossible. Questions filled her head as she bit her bottom lip. Though, she lifted her head, the flowers whispering her name. “Ah, Theodosia. She must be looking for me,” She groaned. “I-I..” She sighed. Of course, she didn’t want to leave him. “I have to go,” Her voice small as she felt the grass wrap around her toes. -
Tiana felt a small twinge in her memory, the rope coming from a room of darkness once more as she sang. However she knew better than to ruin the moment she currently had by grabbing at it. Surprisingly however, the memory came through.
”Quiet! He’ll hear us!” Ten year old Tiana whispered quietly to her friends, oddly dressed in old rags with messy hair and dirty skin. By he she meant the chef who had left the kitchen unattended to use the washroom. “I’m sorry Miss...” Her friend whispered. “Hey, it’s alright.” Tiana assured them as she got out bread from the cupboard. “Sneak out the window. There’s an escape tunnel that will lead you to the village without the gaurd’s knowledge.” Tiana told them. “Oh thank you Princess!” A girl cheered before sneaking down with the others.
The chef returned, catching Tiana as she closed the cupboards. “You went and gave to those beggars again, didn’t you!?!” He asked her. “Those beggars are my friends. My mother is proud that I help my people, so unless you wish for her to fire you I’ll expect no punishment.” Tiana replied boldly before running out the window and running away. She knew the gaurds waited at the end of that entrance and her friends needed a distraction.
Dressed in a ragged cloak to seem as a peasant, Tiana sang at the top of her lungs, her horse nearly ramming the knightsas she galloped passed. Tiana sang in glee as her mare galloped away from the knight’s advancing stallions, giving her friends the freedom to escape. As she reached up to grab an apple, the firm grip of a certain Captain caught her wrist and pulled her off her horse. “Up to one of your... Adventures again Mistress?” The future Head Knight asked her with a smirk.
Tiana, back then, had been the only person besides the Queen he revealed emotion to. However even then, he only showed Tiana annoyance or amusement in her antics. After the incidents Farrim had no choice but to let the princess become the King’s twisted image of perfection, causing him to be stone cold again. “Farrim let me go! I order you to!” Tiana demanded. “Ah... but you’re a thief Princess. Isn’t it my duty to the people to seek Justice?” He asked, holding her upside down, causing the ten year old girl to scream as the other knights laughed. As Tiana swung her arm at Farrim, the memory faded to an end.
Tiana felt nearly at a daze when the memory came to her, smiling brightly as she stroked hair from her face before holding her head. Finally, she had a memory.
“Well how possible is it that I would have fallen for you? Or that you’d fall for someone like me? Perhaps there’s a chance.” Farrim suggested as he kissed her cheek. “I should go back as well, the Princess May be expecting me.” Farrim agreed, hesitating before walking away, his mind buzzing with emotion and blissful thoughts as he tried to contain the grin that threatened to stretch his lips despite his strict control. -
The song had come to it evidently ends. Barin turned to face the Princess, noticing her smile brightly to her. "Something exciting happened as we sung? You look like you've seen something incredible," Barin questioned. He looked to Tiana, his brows furrowed in questioning.
"We've long since ended the song, now children go get ready for supper," Mrs. Scott spoke. The children booed and cried for them to continue singing and spending time with the Royals. Mrs. Scott left the room and soon Franklin followed. "I'll meet you two at the carriage," He had said before taking his leave. Barin kept his eyes on the princess and approached her slowly. "You okay?" He questioned. "You seem too smiley...At the moment," Barin lightly teased.
Ta'ahine bit her bottom lip. She felt light on her toes as roses, lilies, orchids too all blooming underneath her toes. She let out soft giggles of glee as she spun on her heels twirling round and round with bliss.
She arrived at the garden, going past the vines, the trees, and the bushes. Ta'ahine left behind roses at her feet as she went. Theodosia waited for her at the garden's gates. "Where had that girl gone?" Theodosia whispered. "I'm here," Ta'ahine hummed. She sat on the stone wall, messing with a rose's petals. "Where have you gone? What's with the roses, dear? Oh, God..." She smiled. "Are you in love, Ta'ahine?" The mentioned girl didn't respond, as she bit her bottom lip. "I just went to visit the girls, you know how exciting it is to spend time with them." Theodosia laughed. "Yes, yes," Theodosia mused. "Now, come along," She gestured to the garden's doors, leading her inside. -
“I thought you wanted me to be smiley.” Tiana teased, biting her bottom lip as she stood. “And... I just got a memory.” Tiana told him happily as she took his hand.
Farrim hummed to himself as he picked one of the blooming roses, tucking it into his suit before concealing his emotions once more and entering the garden, searching for the Princess.
