In Carlos, a small city of Italy, a beautiful street lined with flowers and old fashioned street lights was the crown of the town. Many beautiful, old, colourful shops managed the street with perfect road and stylish brick sidewalks. The crown Jew of the street, a grand library that was located in the Center of the street. One made of white bricks with a marble staircase, a giant set of grand cherry wood doors were the entrance to this place. Two wooden statues, one of a little girl sitting in a chair reading a book, a book which was titled: Woman to Human. On the other side, a strict woman was holding a broom stick, scolding the child statue. Legend has it the founder of the library carved these based off of herself and her mother, for she had always loved to read and learn when her mother wanted her to clean, cook, and get married. Inside, the library was lit only by a roof of stained glass that appeared as a sun flower. When ever it was noon and the sun reached just above the window’s centre, the roof would close its cover like the dome of an observatory, leaving nothing but a small circle in the middle, causing a spotlight of sun in the middle of the library. The library was one of Fairy takes, with books of incredible stories lining the shelves. The best part about it was the library didn’t have the big named classic books, but instead every book on the large amount of shelves was written my people in that very library. Books that towns people came to write, books that the staff of said library write. Every year the shelves have their books given to the poor to either sell or enjoy to make room for more. The library was a beautiful place, made of the hopes and dreams of its founder.
Who runs this library now? The great great granddaughter of the founder, Clementine Stewart. She ran the library with strict passion and pride, when she walked down the halls, people listened. “Percy, who won the town draw to stand in the spotlight?” Clementine asked. “Calibrina Sapheto Miss.” He replied. “Get her ready. Carmen, do have any late fees this week?” Clementine asked. No answer. “I’ll get back to you. Turner, have you finished your-“ Clementine began before looking to an empty seat. She hadn’t noticed it while reading the clip board. “I only have one more page to write until its done Miss.” Turner cheered. “Where. Is. Carmen?” Clementine asked, glaring at the empty seat. “She... Quit...” Percy muttered nervously. “I see. Back to work.” Clementine muttered, heading to her office. She grabbed her phone, tucking her hair behind her ears nervously. “Why’d you quit?” She asked as soon as Carmen picked up. “Because when I took this job, you didn’t tell me that you’re a sinner.” Carmen hissed. “Carmen, just because I’m dating your sister, that’s no reason to-“ Clementine began nervously. “You mean were, dating her. We’re not letting her live with that nonsense. Besides, the filthy sinner was cheating on you Clementine. I sent proof to your email.” Carmen laughed. “I see.” Clementine muttered, checking her email. “Well, I apologize for your situation. Goodbye Carmen.” She replied calmly, hanging up as she watched the video of Peach kissing another woman. “Of course she did. What did I expect with my luck.” She sighed, turning off the computer and getting up before leaving her office.
She entered the library, anger in her veins, tears threatening to spill from her eyes, the library filling with silence so thick, you could cut it with a knife. “I’m going out.” Clementine announced, storming through the library, closing the doors with a harsh slam behind her. Leaning against the doors a moment, she allowed herself a good cry, before using a wipe to clean her face and taking a deep breath. Someone had to find a replacement for Carmen. If she was to find someone with the right personality, she’d probably find them in the coffee shop across the street. She hesitated at the door, for the library was the only place where it was passion not shyness that took over. She took a deep breath before entering, trying to ignore the fact that this was the place she met Peach. -
Kory sat,her shoulders hunched over her back as she scribbled flowers in the margin of her notebook. She let out a low sigh as she lacked inspiration.Usually this cafe was the place where she felt most inpsired. Now she didn't even get a drop of creativity.
"No,no,no!It's all wrong!"she whisper -shouted to herself as she crumpled the paper and tossed it into her bag.She took another long sip of coffee. what to do,what to do.. she wondered. -
The woman with a sea of freckles and a single braid amongst her flowing black hair caught Clementine’s eyes immediately. “A perfectionist that lacks inspiration, perfect.” She muttered to herself before walking over. “Hello, might I sit here?” She asked.
-
"Erm-um-o-of course"she stuttered"b-but why might I ask you want to sit with m-me?"she pointed to herself. She was easily flustered and nervous. But when comfortable enough with others she let her true personality shine through all of her shyness. She waited for the stranger to speak, her eyes twinkling with curiosity.
-
“Well you see, this is where I come to find employees. I run the library across the street. Today my secretary quit because of... Personal reasons. So I thought I’d offer you a job interview if you’re looking for a job, and a place to work with inspiration. Here’s my card, I hope to hear from you.” Clementine told her, handing her the card with her number before getting up and leaving, not wanting to wait for tedious questions.
-
Kory held the card between two fingers, considering the stranger's offer. Well let's draw out the pros and cons..Pro,I won't be broke, pro,it's quiet, pro it's not that hard a job..Cons, I don't like people, cons,I'm lazy.Hmm it seems pros have won
"I'll call her in the morning." -
(Lol)
Over the rest of the day, Clementine put the books she had been writing aside to do Carmen’s work. Someone needed to do it until the replacement could be found. She worked late at night, sleeping on a couch in the library that night, then waking up bright and early to start working again. -
(lmao me tho)
Kory picked up the paper and dialed the number.
"Hello?"she asked nervously, wondering if she had called the wrong number. She waited for an answer, fiddling impatiently with her fingers. -
Clementine quickly answered the phone. “Hello, this is the Personal Library, Clementine Stewart speaking.” Clementine told the phone.
-
"Hi,ya this is Kory.We spoke yesterday?I'm calling about the job offer."she said.
"U-unless it's already taken"she remembered other people might need this job as well. -
“No, I make it a point to only offer jobs one at a time. I wait at least a day before giving another offer for the job. That way I’m not drowned in phone calls. When are you free for an interview?” Clementine asked, happy the girl called back as she began doing some heavy research to get information on the girl.
-
"Oh yes give me a moment to check my calendar.."she said as she walked over to the packet of paper."It seems I'm free any day for the next three days including today."she said"is that fine?"she asked.
-
Yes, come today when you’re free. Thank you.” She replied before hanging up.
-
Kory nodded. It was 12:37 and she was planning on getting there at around 3:00.Meaning she had to hustle. She showered and dried her hair in put it in abraid. Then she put on a white blouse that hugged her chest. She wore a black flowey skirt that was one of her favorites and black flats. She then set out walking,as it wasn't that far from her home.
