“As tempting as that offer sounds, unfortunately not. I’ve been assigned the case of your friend’s sabotaged drink, and it’s come to my attention that you’re next in line for Quarter back. Is that correct?” Alisha asked.

Baxter answered “Yes, but I don’t see why I’m a suspect. I’m his best friend. He’d trust me with anything.”

“Including his beverage?” Alisha asked, raising her eyebrow. “Everyone who has motive is a suspect. If I decide you’re innocent I’ll interview third in line next, which might make you the next target if it was them.” Alisha explained. “Besides, it’s not a rare occasion that friends betray friends, So I’m blind to the best friend excuse.” She added.

Baxter said “Listen, if you want a suspect, try the coach. Dude has major gambling debts. Mostly because Rip refuses to play the games he tries to set up.”

“First, can you account for your whereabouts during the time of the accident?” Alisha asked, remembering many cop shows she watched.

Baxter explained “I was in the locker room with Rip. I just gave him his protein shake like always. He puts it in my locker so it doesn’t get tampered with. Two seconds after that, he had the reaction and was taken to the nurse.”

“So you were the only person with access to it?” I asked, raising my eyebrow.

Baxter said “I told you, I didn’t do it. Now leave me alone, I have to get ready for practice.” and she left.

Alisha sighed. “Not suspicious at all, and yet still no proof.” She muttered. “Oh well... I have more suspects to question.” She sighed, setting off for the gym.

Daniel was in the men’s locker room, looking for any fingerprints the perp may have left.

Alisha stopped at the bright red door to the Coach’s office and knocked on the door.

Coach Marshall was talking over the phone when he heard the door. The last thing he said before hanging up was “I just shaved my beard, 100 bucks says I look like a teenager.” He answered the door to Alisha just as Daniel came down the hall.

“Hello Coach. Can you tell me your whereabouts during the incident of your team’s quarter back?” She asked.

Coach said “I was in my office getting ready for the day. Why?” Daniel said “Rip was poisoned.”

“Do you know anyone who would have access to Rip or Baxter’s lockers?” Alisha asked.
